Diarrhoea cure?

A bit of a crap subject this - sorry - but I had a bout of diarrhoea yesterday  that was awful because the last time I had it was about 20 years ago.

It all started around 3am. I was in bed, sleeping (of course) and I suddenly woke with a nasty pain in my stomach. Within minutes I was rushing to the lav and was doing so every 10 minutes after that for the next eight hours.:fist:

I was told it's a condition that could last up to four days. :fist:

So I asked a friend about it. He'd had it and he had found a 'cure'.

I told him it was probably an egg and mayonnaise sandwich that caused it.

But he gave me a list of things to eat and guess what it soon went away. :D

So I ate:

1) Four cheese pasties.

2) One big bar of chocolate.

3) Drank two pints of whole milk.

So, what happened and why did it work? Thanks. :)

Thanks, but I think that would have taken long to work.

Plus what I ate was very nice. ;)

It's actually really quick, I couldn't eat all that stuff, would take me far longer than taking an immodium  Also, I have a Pasty Phobia

Eating all that cheese isn't good, I agree. :)

Gusto Brunt 05-04-2017 11:14 AM

I'll get some of those tablets in just in case Poo-gate returns unexpectedly. :p

Thanks. :D

Dry toast

Reduce your dairy consumption. Not as healthy as how it's being promoted.

My mom always said Bananas were good for Diarrhea, don't know if that's just an old wives tale though

Gusto Brunt 05-04-2017 11:24 AM

Or it could be, Niamh, that what I ate had nothing to do with the condition going away.

However, I find it interesting that it was 100% better within an hour of eating all that stuff. :)

Coincidence? Perhaps...

It doesn't say it's healthy though, maybe just reducing the symptoms in his case. Drinking Coke can help with nausea, still not healthy.

It says avoid all diary products...on a doctor's advice website.

And also.... if you're miles from a spellchecker, you can remember how to spell diarrhoea with this simple mnemonic: dash in a real rush, hurry, or else accident.

You're welcome.

Cream crackers. R.

jennyjuniper 05-04-2017 02:14 PM

ginger ale or flat cola and dry toast. Also water with a bit of sugar and salt in it.

RichardG 05-04-2017 02:23 PM

These and plain rice I've heard are good for your stomach. Last time it happened to me I only ate those 3 things for a couple of days and I was fine.
