Sharia in the UK ~ Leeds 29th March 2017
|
Point one: should their toilets be closer to the hall? Yes imo. Very impractical.

Q. Is segregation ok if it's religious and based on your sex and not based on colour of skin.
A. No, segregation is never ok. We are all equals under the law of the land. Ride the bus ladies, ride the bus. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosa_Parks |
Is that Kizzy in the middle :fan:
Insert Christian in the video this thread would be 20 pages long it never ceases to amaze me how people make exception for what happens within the laws of Islam that would be abhorred in any other. |
I would take issue with his claim that sharia patrols in high viz vests are patrolling some London areas though, I think this was a one off occurrence in Whitechapel that was dealt with by police.
|
Can't watch this right now but I would strongly object to any law other than the law of the land being enforced here or in the UK.

Maybe you could give us a few bullet points of the points that were raised Cherie, considering you watched it all |
Sharia Law, if it is to exist in the UK, must be in line with the law of the land.
Jewish courts have been in existance for ages, they deal mostly with civil and matrimonial disputes and they cannot come to a decision which breaks the law of the country they're in. |
Sharia Law isn't legally binding in the UK and it never will be.

I stopped the video at the point where Anne Marie declared the UK as the only nation in Europe that allows Sharia councils. Why would she say such nonsense when there are Sharia councils in Germany, Sweden, Holland, Denmark and other European countries? I can only presume these people are preaching on British naivety.
They also seem to be implying that Sharia Law within Britain is new. Shariah Law in the UK was implemented back in the 1950’s when the British government encouraged a lot of Muslims to come and labour in this country. The British government put Shariah Law in place so that these new workers could preserve their sacred law and feel accepted. |
All they really do is arbitration tribunals, which deal with anything from family or business disputes to mundane and banal daily issues. Another thing Sharia law allows is religious considerations over the way meat is slaughtered. Every court must have a British registered lawyer in attendance with a scholar of Islamic law and so if it seeps outside the box, the lawyer always has authority over the religious scholar.

How does the wife get divorced if she's unhappy? "A Muslim woman may petition a qadi, or in non-Islamic areas an Islamic community panel, to grant her divorce if the husband refuses. The waiting period (iddah) of a woman who seeks a divorce is one menstrual cycle or one month if she is post-menopauseal, i.e. ceased menstruating." |

Or she can just give back her dowry(or pay for divorce)
