Q&A

Discuss points raised

Point one: should their toilets be closer to the hall? Yes imo. Very impractical.

Q. Is segregation ok if it's religious and based on your sex and not based on colour of skin.

A. No, segregation is never ok. We are all equals under the law of the land.

Is that Kizzy in the middle :fan:

Insert Christian in the video this thread would be 20 pages long it never ceases to amaze me how people make exception for what happens within the laws of Islam that would be abhorred in any other.

Cherie 13-04-2017 10:02 AM

I would take issue with his claim that sharia patrols in high viz vests are patrolling some London areas though, I think this was a one off occurrence in Whitechapel that was dealt with by police.

Can't watch this right now but I would strongly object to any law other than the law of the land being enforced here or in the UK.

I cant speak for every tibb member, but for me personally, I wasnt expecting a 20 page thread because the video is 67 minutes long, and the first 5 mins alone were mind numbingly boring.
Maybe you could give us a few bullet points of the points that were raised Cherie, considering you watched it all

Sharia Law, if it is to exist in the UK, must be in line with the law of the land.

Jewish courts have been in existance for ages, they deal mostly with civil and matrimonial disputes and they cannot come to a decision which breaks the law of the country they're in.

Tom4784 13-04-2017 11:16 AM

Sharia Law isn't legally binding in the UK and it never will be.

It's just that you claimed everybody was uninterested in this 67 minute video because of the exceptions that they made, so I assumed you did something to different to those you were trying to mock.

I keep reading this as Shania and think she has announce uk tour dates. I'd love to see her live. R.

I made an observation, if you want to see that as mocking I can't do anything about it

I stopped the video at the point where Anne Marie declared the UK as the only nation in Europe that allows Sharia councils. Why would she say such nonsense when there are Sharia councils in Germany, Sweden, Holland, Denmark and other European countries? I can only presume these people are preaching on British naivety.

They also seem to be implying that Sharia Law within Britain is new. Shariah Law in the UK was implemented back in the 1950’s when the British government encouraged a lot of Muslims to come and labour in this country. The British government put Shariah Law in place so that these new workers could preserve their sacred law and feel accepted.

DemolitionRed 13-04-2017 03:33 PM

All they really do is arbitration tribunals, which deal with anything from family or business disputes to mundane and banal daily issues. Another thing Sharia law allows is religious considerations over the way meat is slaughtered. Every court must have a British registered lawyer in attendance with a scholar of Islamic law and so if it seeps outside the box, the lawyer always has authority over the religious scholar.

The only point you discussed was high vis jackets, which would never be worth 20 pages on tibb in my opinion, so I'm struggling to see the parallel you were trying to make. Was there a different aspect of the short section you watched that would be worth a 20 page discussion under a different title?

Don't forget allowing a husband to divorce his wife by saying "I divorce you" three times and leaving her pennyless and on the street cos she was never aloud to work and encouraging physical punishment if the wife misbehaves.
How does the wife get divorced if she's unhappy?
"A Muslim woman may petition a qadi, or in non-Islamic areas an Islamic community panel, to grant her divorce if the husband refuses. The waiting period (iddah) of a woman who seeks a divorce is one menstrual cycle or one month if she is post-menopauseal, i.e. ceased menstruating."

Talaq (Muslim divorce) isn't recognised in the UK unless the divorce took place out of this country. They have to go through normal UK proceedings for a decree absolute and then if they wish, they can go to a Sharia court for a Talaq. Its the same with marriage. Many Muslims in the UK have what's called a Nikah ceremony but this isn't recognized as a marriage under British law and so if a Talaq goes ahead after a Nikah marriage, as far as English law is concerned, the couple were merely cohabiting.
