Spoiler: pretty much all Easter eggs are halal

Jordan. 16-04-2017 02:14 PM

Asda and Sainsbury's know where it's at, we're paying for chocolate not fanfiction.

Withano 16-04-2017 02:15 PM

Christians need to stop ruining easter for everybody else tbh

MB. 16-04-2017 02:16 PM

Yeah I'd like to know exactly where in the Bible Jesus and his disciples sit down to enjoy a nice traditional Easter egg

Kizzy 16-04-2017 02:16 PM

I'd say neither do the majority of people who buy easter eggs, if we're talking about the religious side of it.

I get that but Muslims usually move away from everything to do with other religious holidays and eggs fall under that

MB. 16-04-2017 02:48 PM

"Muslims need to integrate themselves more into our society!"
"Okay then, we'll buy Easter eggs"
"No, not like that"

MB. 16-04-2017 02:56 PM

no, but I don't understand why you had to bring it up in this thread?

And I don't understand what relevance the fact that supermarkets stock halal Easter eggs has to do with this story, but there we go!

DemolitionRed 16-04-2017 03:12 PM

Rabbits and eggs are ancient Pagan symbols of new life in the spring but the tradition was nicked off the Christians and used as the resurrection of Christ.

I'd buy a Pagan egg but I'm not going to support a Christian Easter.

I don't understand why they can't stock Halal eggs and Christian themed eggs. It is things like this that causes bad feeling amongst different cultures. How are we ever meant to be able to get along side by side with brothers and sisters of other cultures while acts such as this tries to cause animosity. I doubt many muslim people would be offended if Christian Easter eggs are stocked. We have a halal meat counter in our local supermarket and that doesn't bother me, I understand it's muslim faith to eat halal, so both is stocked, halal and non halal. Fair wouldn't you say?

Niamh. 16-04-2017 03:21 PM

They probably chose to sell the ones kids want to eat tbf What kid is going to ask for a Bible Easter Egg

I wasn't actually expecting this debate to start but Sainsbury's stated that they work off a supply and demand policy and not enough people bought the Christian eggs last year.

Withano 16-04-2017 03:27 PM

Asda hasn't commented.

The fact some chocolate eggs are edible to Muslims has zero relevance to them not stocking a religious Christian one. People acting like they've chosen to stock eggs with Qurans inside instead

Exactly, that's perfectly logical, kids want Mars or Malteaser eggs not Jesus ones

but some did so why can't they stock those too? They don't have to buy shed loads but at least let the people who still believe feel that they are just as important as those that don't. There are still some good Christian people around.

ebandit 16-04-2017 03:44 PM

........worse thing is producers getting away with hollow eggs
