Revision

For those who have done their GCSE's, when about did you start revising? And for how long each night etc?

Also, how did you revise? I know there's a lot of different methods, just wondering what you think is best.

Chrizzle 07-04-2007 10:38 PM

Ooohh good thread. I need advice on revision desperately.
I need to know when to start.

Kristen 07-04-2007 10:41 PM

Aaarrrrrrrrrrrrghhhh!!!
This is bringing back horrible, horrible memories :bawling:

Dan_ 07-04-2007 11:19 PM

 I'm really not the best to give advice on this considering I left it like only a couple weeks before the exams started before I did any revision and for some subjects it would be the night before.I revised differently for different exams, for German I used post it notes over my bedroom door of different phrases etc, for English I just read through the book we had to study for the exam and for most of the other subjects I went onto revision websites and did practice papers which I found to be about the best way of doing things.

yeah im same as dan for GCSES i think it was about at easter holidays. I read through my notes each day for adifferent subject and my mum did questions for me. For a levels it was usually a few days before and i just read through my notes

For my Junior Cert I started properly around March and did like 4 hours Saturday and Sunday. At the moment even though my exams ain't till next year I study most of the time just so it doesn't all pile up.

LOL. I didn't realise you were doing your GCSE's.

Well why don't you spend your last days of freedom getting very, very drunk, well the nights at least unless it's a sunny day then you can do it in the day too. Don't say i don't give good advice.

The best advice I could give is to balance everything, although I understand it can be really hard to do that!

Legend 09-04-2007 12:56 PM

Yeah, i'm gonna have to get my head down this week. I'm thinking about recording things on the computer and putting it onto my MP3 and then listening to it, may as well give that a go.

Sophii3x 09-04-2007 12:58 PM

I was meant to start revising weeks ago, but I couldn't care less about the stupid exams anymore, so I'm not bothering.

sol 09-04-2007 01:06 PM

I started revising around about now, Easter is when most people start revising for their GCSEs, ASs and A2s.
What I did was got these little revision books and wrote out notes from those CGP books into them.
I did that about everyday from about now until the exams for atleast 1 hour a night. But break the revision into little chunks like 20 minutes, you'll get a lot more done in 20 minutes than sitting down for 2-3 hours and getting bored and starting going on the PC or watching telly.

Good luck

I have to start today after dinner :(

Crystal-Rose 07-05-2007 06:26 PM

Ruth*Star 07-05-2007 06:37 PM

i did my year 10 exams in january, which was werid because it was just after xmas. the only thing i need to revise for now is Science Moduals in June which i am dreding because the science teacher at my school thinks i'm stupid. i'm expecting to do badly again.

Z 07-05-2007 06:37 PM

I just space it out through the day. On and off, let it chill yooo etc.

Haha. I properly started revising during the Easter holidays, it paid off for Computing as it's one of my worst subjects. I've done 2 exams, I have English next and thereafter I have a couple of days 'til each exam. Which helps just to go over notes etc. I don't think writing everything out necessarily helps, try to read things out loud, look away and see if you can remember it. Get a parent to help. Post it notes, recordings, flashcards, they all help. Spider diagrams. Find out what works best for you :)

Captain.Remy 07-05-2007 06:58 PM

11st of june: Biology- 1:30.
12nd of june: French Writing- 4 hours. :conf2:

I got a copy of the exam board rules the other day, there's about a page full. The worst rule is if you drop something you can't pick it up lol
