Queen Elizabeth II Calls for Important Meeting

Royal staff from across the country have been called to a “highly unusual” meeting at Buckingham Palace.

Personnel from as far away as Balmoral are reportedly attending the meeting in addition to staff from Windsor Castle and Sandringham.

The topic of the meeting is unclear.

The Palace has played down the gathering, telling the AP there was “no cause for concern”. An inside source told Reuters: "There's no cause for alarm".

A BBC report suggested the meeting was not about the health of the Queen or Duke of Edinburgh.

Buckingham Palace said such all-staff meetings did occur occasionally.

Staff will reportedly be addressed by the Queen’s Private Secretary Sir Christopher Geidt and Lord Chamberlain, senior officer of the Royal Household.

“Everyone is on tenterhooks,” a staff member told the Daily Mail, last night.

“Although meetings involving the entire royal household are occasionally called, the way this has been done at the eleventh hour is highly unusual and suggests that there is something major to be disseminated.

The meeting will take place at 10am.

Queen quitting and dismantling the royal family and selling all of their stuff and giving the proceeds to charity?

... Fingers crossed?

It's probably just to tell everyone that George correctly used the word "proletarian" in a sentence, though.

Well, that's a whole other debate, isn't it. You know the fact that they are major employers, and the diplomacy... and overseas trade they bring in. And I haven't even mentioned tourism. And really, I wouldn't swap places with them, I wouldn't want that life and I bet not many other people would either.

I am a Monarchist and have respect for them and the attention that is positive they bring to the UK.

However, they 'do not' have to do it,they could give it up and not bother.
I would hate the more organised schedule they get but I am sure if the Monarch fancied a break day,it would be made so.

If an ordinary individual gets a bad cough or cold, they are expected to get on with things and work too,a Royal would get a Doctors visit and a fair fuss made.

Also the Queen could easily, and is doing, delegate duties to others,as could Prince Philip too.
I think they actually love the status and life they have which is why they eagerly hold onto it.

For me however one of the best things about the present make up of the UK,is the Monarchy it has.

The end of legitimizing superiority by blood / birth is worth any price.
