Where is the money saved from paying into the EU going?

And before any bright spark says we are still paying in, in less than 2 years time we won't be, have any of the parties mentioned what will happen to it and where it will be directed once we are out, given their manifestos are 5 year plans? Seems to have been forgotten about  or swept under the carpet ...or are we going out at all....

We are going out - can you imagine the uproar if we didn't! Talk about election suicide - they would never be trusted again.

It needs to be something that they get challenged on - maybe not all 350, but a sizeable chunk of it.

I'd imagine that we're just in debt in so many other places because of Brexit that we'll just throw it to wherever needs the money the most? Good question, I don't know the answer, I don't think anybody does?!

I probably didn't explain myself very well, but I think if we stay in the single market we would still have to pay in? that's what I mean about not going out, I know May has made noises about leaving it but I wonder if it will actually happen!

It should be in every party manifesto, if they don't know we are all doomed!

Nukes, if the tories stay in it will be nukes.

The NHS to the tune of £350 million, duh. It woz on a big red bus fam.

user104658 14-05-2017 01:09 PM

I thought it was pretty much general knowledge at this point? There won't be any extra money. Even the majority of Brexiteers have moved on to talking about other benefits of being out of Europe.

Any money that is "saved" by not being paid into the EU will be wiped out (and more) by losses in other areas. Even economic optimists know that. They would argue that it's short term and that increased autonomy will allow us to EVENTUALLY have more... But we're talking decades of reduced funds before that.

Hopefully to the farmers and others who depend on support from the EU at the moment.
I should think we will need a good few years of transition before we see much of anything changing.

are dairy farmers loaded when supermarkets can sell 4 pints for a 1.00? how much do you think the farmer actually gets, the subsidies are what made the difference between making a living and not

Greg! 14-05-2017 02:14 PM

There won't be any money saved, we're going to lose money

Apparently cows can produce 25 pints a day. Earning even 20p per pint should be an alright wage for a farmer with 10 cows - a lot would have more than 10 cows, and be earning money in other ways too, on top of that, they could sell their land tomorrow and sit on a small fortune.

I've always assumed they were doing alright, I've not researched any of this lol

20p x 25 pints x 10 cows = £50 a day

lol

rolling it in.

Aye, and once you take the cost of feed and maintenance the poor farmers are struggling to make any kind of living.
Of course there will be some very well off farmers, but I hate to think how many are struggling.

Into one of the other many blackholes of debt I would imagine.
