Cop shoot 15 year old boy and leave him to die while being handcuffed

Video surfaced on social media Friday afternoon purporting to show the moments after 15-year-old Jayson Negron was fatally shot by a Bridgeport police officer Tuesday.

The graphic video first appeared on social media in the morning, according to Jayson’s cousin, 24-year-old Giovanni Rivera, who shared the footage on Twitter just before 5:30 p.m.

The minute-long video shows Jayson lying handcuffed on the ground next to the open driver’s side door of a car. And at one point, out of view of the camera, the position of Jayson’s head changes — he goes from facing the right to the left.

One officer bends down to touch his back and then stands near him. Sirens and people yelling can be heard in the background. The clip ends with an officer bending down to touch the teen again.

Police say Jayson was fatally shot on Fairfield Avenue Tuesday evening after backed into an officer following a brief chase in a stolen car. His passenger, Julian Fyffe, 22, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and Jayson died at the scene.

Hundreds Gather In Bridgeport After Teen Fatally Shot By Police Officer
“It’s very painful to watch, but it’s very important we put it out there because we were lied to by the police” about how Jayson died, Rivera said.

He said Bridgeport police told his family that Jayson was killed when he was shot in the head. Rivera said he believes the video contradicts that.

“If that crucial part of the story is a lie, everything else is up for question,” Rivera said.

The officer who fired the shots, 30-year-old James Boulay, has been placed on administrative leave during an investigation into Jayson’s death, according to Bridgeport police spokesperson Rowena White. She added that the agency has been directed to forward all inquiries to state police.

“This is definitely a tragic incident that happened,” she said.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut released a statement Friday in response to the video, criticizing the officer’s behavior and calling for statewide police reform.

“The callous disregard that Bridgeport police officers showed for Jayson Negron during his last moments of life is unacceptable,” executive director David McGuire said. “Their behavior was outside the realms of human decency and democracy.”

“The City of Bridgeport must immediately act to create true accountability, transparency, and respect for human life in the Bridgeport Police Department. As a state, Connecticut must not make the mistake of believing that police excessive force and police accountability are simply Bridgeport problems, or pretend that racial disparities in policing do not exist.”

State police did not respond to questions late Friday. Fox 61 reported that the video has been provided to investigators.

Rivera said he’s not going to stop looking for answers and justice for Jayson.

“You look at the crime compared to the consequence, it’s wrong,” Rivera said. “He was a beautiful, beautiful kid and he had a bright future.”

So you are saying stealing a car is worse then murder?

Livia 15-05-2017 03:24 PM

He was in a stolen car. Did he have a firearm? Did the police know whether he had a firearm? I'd like to know before I make up my mind.

Well, you could argue that a fifteen year old in a stolen car is a potential hit and run.

The policeman said he shot him in his head and he died instantly but the video proves he was not dead

Denver 15-05-2017 03:28 PM

Rivera said police told his family 15-year-old Negron was shot in the head and died at the scene

but

Autopsy results show Negron died from gunshot wounds to the chest.

He was left on Fairfield Avenue in full view for hours, a move that infuriated some locals.

Bridgeport Police Chief Armando Perez said he was told he wasn't allowed to cover the body with a sheet in case it disrupted the crime scene but later learned that the body could have been covered.

Hmm... I should probably watch the video.

Still... don't steal cars.

'Police cannot declare someone dead at the scene,' Stratton told Daily Mail. 'You need a doctor or medical examiner. [Police] have no legal right or expertise, nonetheless thats what happened here. They not only declared him dead, they made sure he was dead by not getting him medical care as he lay handcuffed on the ground.'

This is the worse

So you think that it's okay to.

Denver 15-05-2017 03:33 PM

And it is BS for someone to say a young boy deserves to die for stealing the care hopefully the police officer is given a death sentence

Mystic Mock 15-05-2017 03:35 PM

I honestly think nothing will be done Adam, certain types of people can get off very easy in life when it comes to crime and The Police are one of those people.

But this is the best evidence to prove he lied and murdered a young boy of a different race

I hope something is done, I really do, it's just I've lost faith in America when they've let other cases of this go by as if nothing happened.

Negron’s passenger, 21-year-old Julian Fyffe, was shot in the shoulder and is expected to make a full recovery at Bridgeport Hospital. Neither he nor Negron had a weapon.

Denver 15-05-2017 03:39 PM

He had no reason to shoot

UserSince2005 15-05-2017 03:41 PM

At the end of the day, its sound like he was a complete and utter waste of space.

Very sad for his family, but they should have raised him better.

I not saying he should die for stealing a car.

But if you put yourself in such a position the risk is there and unfortunately this time he was unlucky.

It clearly states he had no weapon so to me it becomes clearly he was shot because of his skin colour

Denver 15-05-2017 03:43 PM

I really hope the officer gets the same treatment he deserves it
