Endemol Shine UK has hired a former boss of ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex as a new executive producer for Big Brother 2017.

Louise Hutchinson is joining the Channel 5 show from Lime Pictures, where she briefly oversaw TOWIE and was a series editor on E4’s Celebs Go Dating.

Her prior credits include Sky1’s Got To Dance and ITV’s The Biggest Loser.

Hutchinson will be one of three executive producers on this summer’s Big Brother, alongside returning chiefs Andrew Jackman – also a former TOWIE exec – and Rebecca Kenny-Smith.

She replaces Richard Greenwood, who worked on January’s ‘All Stars’ and ‘New Stars’ Celebrity edition.

The trio will work alongside Katy Manley, who became the show’s sole creative director last year.

Today Channel 5 confirmed plans to launch Big Brother during the first week of June, meaning it will clash with the general election.

But that may be a deliberate move, as it was announced last week that the new series will have a political theme, with housemates from various backgrounds coming together for a ‘culture clash’ in the ‘ultimate social experiment’.

This ‘alternative look’ at the UK is represented with a new eye logo based on the Union Jack flag, while the house has also had a very British makeover.

Tbf she might have good ideas for Big Brother, although I really don't like the sound of the TOWIE influence that's growing on all Reality shows.

BB will be getting even more and more scripted, if you did not get my point :/

Calderyon 19-05-2017 08:28 PM

This is oddly hilarious.

Have a fun with new BB/Towie series.

RichardG 19-05-2017 08:34 PM

haven't they hired towie people in the past

i don't think this is anything new

i mean honestly what do people expect anyway, it's not like they're going to stick a vegetable patch and some chickens in the garden and go "back to basics". no one should be surprised by this.

Cancel it

Glenn-C 19-05-2017 08:43 PM

It's like C5 are hearing what we're saying and doing the exact opposite :/

But i don´ t want that. A Towie like BB would be a nightmare.

I think you misunderstood. I was talking about the news being hilarious in a sad kind of way.

I screamed.

Pretty sure a Towie gal was in charge of BB17 as well.

What a shame that BB can't stand their ground and keep to the format of 'real' people instead of succumbing to the level of trashy wannabes who would do anything for airtime and publicity.
It takes a certain person to appear on these programmes to make a name for themselves...but BB could rise above it and attract real people who interact rather than just bed hopping people who will sleep with anyone for airtime.
BB is fast becoming a Love Island fest...and TOWIE producers are all about conceived drama...and that's not what we want.
We can have drama from strong characters alone...we want REALITY not scripted ****e..

Cal. 19-05-2017 09:42 PM

I don't get why they're SO obsessed with TOWIE? It was last relevant in 2011. You'd think they'd try and imitate Geordie Shore or Ex on the Beach since they're quite successful instead of trying desperately to get the TOWIE audience?

Cal. 19-05-2017 09:43 PM

(Not to mention it's highly worrying that the executive producer of a series of a show is only getting hired two weeks before said series debuts on TV)

T* 19-05-2017 09:46 PM

actually laughable

Greg! 19-05-2017 09:58 PM

FACT: The original exec producer of BB created Towie.

Greg! 19-05-2017 09:59 PM

Noah Fence but there are some major overreactions in this thread.

Exactly!!! Thank you. It seems that most of these so called "Big Brother Fans" do not even remember the original idea of Big Brother,

And what has that anything to do with the original Big Brother?
