John Leslie in talks

Quote:

FALLEN star John Leslie is in talks to appear on Celebrity Big Brother.

He hopes the show will help to reignite his TV career.

Leslie, 52, who has admitted abusing drugs and faced a string of sexual assault allegations, has been offered £75,000 to take part.

Despite saying he would never do reality TV, he thinks a stint inside the Big Brother house will change his fortunes.

“Big Brother is known for its controversial housemates, and bosses can’t wait to get him in the diary room”

A source said: “John was approached a few months back. He always said he’d never do reality TV but he now feels that he’s got nothing to lose.

"Big Brother is known for its controversial housemates, and bosses can’t wait to get him in the diary room.”

Scots-born Leslie was a huge TV star back in the 1990s after starting out on Blue Peter. He fronted Wheel of Fortune before landing a £350,000-a-year job on ITV daytime show This Morning.

Leslie’s name was wrongly linked to the allegation by presenter Matthew Wright on live TV.

Ulrika didn’t name her attacker and Leslie was never charged, but he was axed from This Morning.

In 2003, he was accused of two sex assaults on an actress in 1997.

He was subsequently cleared but was then dogged by a sex tape which emerged of him with ex-girlfriend Abi Titmuss.

Leslie’s TV career dried up and he lost everything. In 2008, another unfounded rape accusation was levelled at him.

No charges were brought, and he landed a job on local radio in Edinburgh. But in November 2015 Leslie was suspended after a woman claimed he had sexually assaulted her.

Once again, no charges were brought. The source added: “After the last allegation, John was convinced that his broadcasting career was over for good.

“All he’s ever wanted is to get back on TV and Big Brother have given him that lifeline. They also reckon he’d be brilliant TV, especially if he starts revealing details of his wild party days.

“He’s been open about enjoying three-in-a-bed sex, watching porn and bedding a string of women, but always maintained he was 100%innocent when it came to the accusations.”

Big Brother returns to screens next month.

In fairness in recent years it's relaunched Claire King to a job on Corrie, Sam Robertson rejoined Corrie too after a few misfires. Gillian Taylforth is back on Eastenders and Lucien Laviscount is starring in in quite big budget TV shows and movies. Megan McKenna also did well from it being cast on Towie.

Rylan has also done incredibly well from it.

Even if it does 0 for his career it's not unknown for people to do alright off the back of getting themselves back on the telly.

I'm fairly sure some have joined Loose Women off the back of this too (Katie Price, White Dee, I think Saira Khan didn't do LW before CBB but I may be wrong?), Leslie Jordan joined American Horror Story, Sam Faiers inexplicably has her own show, Luisa got a BOTS job for a while before people realised she's a godawful woman...

Saira was a part of LW before CBB and Leslie was a part of American Horror Story before CBB.. :joker:

Yeah Saira was on LW before but Katie got the gig straight after CBB so I think that's a good example.

Tara Reid did Sharknado after CBB too and although it's not that great it's been a pretty big hit for Syfy and spawned what 5 sequels now? Also her career had stalled in a big way wheras she has worked steadily since.

Shilpa Shetty is a good example too, be honest who had heard of her before CBB?

He had a bigger role after CBB though.

Maxxie. 29-05-2017 12:56 AM

Looking at the list of celebs who've taken part they're are 29 c5 contestants who I think became more famous or [slightly] revived their career after CBB and 15 from channel 4 days.

So as usual people have condemned him for something he was never found guilty of, typical.
