In a way he is right. Political correctness forces you to think, speak and address people in a certain way. It's not about being polite or not hurting people's feelings, it's about pandering to people and lying about how you really feel because you're scared of a negative social reaction.

Political correctness and wanting to be seen as being politically correct can be dangerous too - I'm sure we're all familiar with recent stories where that has been prevalent.
