The ignore feature

This is a great feature I think, and if more people used it, there would be a lot less bad blood going around.

Question: Why is it not possible to ignore a moderator. When they post they can be just as contentious as anyone else and therefore merit ignoring. If they need to speak to someone, they can always PM

Good point,it should be a feature,no reason for it not to be.

I wish the ignore feature would make the person you have on it disappear compleately so you can't even see the little 'this person is on your ignore list' box.

I understand mods not being able to be ignored though I guess because they sometimes enter threads to calm discussion or steer it back to it's OP and if they had to PM it could be hard if the person for example had a full inbox

Withano 20-06-2017 09:24 AM

I only used it once about a year ago.. all it done was take away my ability to respond to that one persons post, whilst they still responded to many of mine..
I do have a mental note of a few people that I actively try to avoid, that works better for me

I guess the moderators pass on information about the site such as scheduled downtime or your personal infractions, and warnings to desist entire conversations within threads, so maybe its just logistically difficult - there would be a huge fuss made if somebody never saw a warning because of the block feature, and then was banned because they carried on

I do think things are much calmer lately in the forum, or at least this is what I experience.
I personally don't use the ignore list as 1st not many people in here bother me to that extent and 2nd I prefer to "confront" it and dissolve this kind of things so they won't recur or give it the legitimisation (and I did it with a couple when I felt it becoming too much).

I understand why the admins cannot be ignored, as they are the admins. I don't think any of them is THAT awful to the extent of ignoring them. They don't misbehave...

i will never put someone on my ignore list, i don't hate anyone on here :(

joeysteele 20-06-2017 09:56 AM

You couldn't have ignore for a mod and rightly so.
Often on threads they have to address all on the thread, some or a couple.

They are appointed to do a job for ALL on the forum not just a few.
It would be absurd for a member to be able to put them on ignore.

I myself only have one person on ignore,it doesn't really work as if someone else quotes them, then you get to see the post anyway.

This feature Is a godsend at the moment for me :joker:

Vicky. 20-06-2017 10:02 AM

Ignore feature is bloody annoying. I only ever tried putting one poster on ignore and they followed me around quoting me and I could just see that they had posted but not the post. Shame we can't get an ignore feature that actually wipes the posters existence away and also forces them to not see your posts to quote and bait

Crimson Dynamo 20-06-2017 10:04 AM

do you think a dog will one day realise that they are actually full of bones?

True, It's so annoying when that happens

I've only recently started using it, it takes a bit of discipline but well worth it i think.

I would say that one could sub divide a mods posts into announcement types, and normal posts, in which case they could still perform their role.

I do think it would have constructive benefit and lead to less confrontations with mod staff

I think the only way to do that would be for us to log onto the tibb staff account everytime we give warnings in threads and such. Which would be a huge pain in the arse on season plus I reckon more people would cry bias if they couldn't see whos doing what

King Gizzard 20-06-2017 10:27 AM

Instead of putting people on ignore just read their posts in your head in a stupid accent it works for me

That sounds a great idea.:joker:

Crimson Dynamo 20-06-2017 10:55 AM

It would not be hard to allow members to ignore mods in normal conversation but if a mod wanted to address everyone in a thread for some housekeeping, for them to override the ignore function for that particular post

UserSince2005 20-06-2017 11:56 AM

id block all the mod and run riot, hehehehehe

thesheriff443 20-06-2017 12:08 PM

We all have a built in ignore button!

Members need to stop taking things personally, if everyone was on ignore there would be no forum.

Headie 22-08-2018 08:01 PM

Don't know where else to post this but is it possible to not see the threads made by people on your ignore list or is that not a possibility?

Beso 22-08-2018 08:28 PM

Wish the mods would put me on ignore.
