BB9 vs BB18

BB9 launched on 5th June 2008 and ended on the 5th September.

BB18 launched exactly 9 years later on the 5th June 2017 but could potentially end in July. I know the series have been shorter since the move to Channel 5 but that really is such a difference, it's quite sad. Do you think we'll ever get a long series again?

I can't comment since i haven't watched BB9 properly but

The 20th and/or last series maybe.

armand.kay 04-07-2017 04:56 PM

Long seasons suck keep it at 10 weeks or less imo.

Oaker 04-07-2017 04:58 PM

The 13 week series were way too long tbh, I think BB15 was the perfect duration (72 Days).

reece(: 04-07-2017 05:05 PM

A long series on C5 would be a mess.

Newbies would still be entering on Day 70 for drama

Macie Lightfoot 04-07-2017 05:07 PM

yeah I actually don't mind a shorter series length at all. Like in particular this series feels like it's been on for SO long already to me and we're not even at Day 30 yet. I couldn't imagine putting up with like 65 more days.

MB. 04-07-2017 05:12 PM

I'm not sure how much it's related to quality (or lack thereof), but yeah, this series has felt much longer than 29 days. I wouldn't say it's dragged exactly, but you could tell me that they just forgot to air a few weeks in the middle and that we're actually on Day 50 and I'd believe you, especially when you compare it even to previous Channel 5 series... I mean, at this point in BB15, Matthew was still in the house...

MB. 04-07-2017 05:14 PM

Thinking about it, it's probably because I've become so accustomed to the CBB schedule of everything being neatly wrapped up by Day 30, and anything significantly longer than that now feels odd

Cal. 04-07-2017 05:17 PM

It feels like this series has been on for ages but we haven't had a ~long~ series since 2015 so everybody has probably gotten used to it now and so Day 30 feels like a big portion (it's only 20 days before the final so for a 13 week series we'd be on Day 73 by now). Also SO much has happened and so many people have been and gone in such a shortish time.

Oaker 04-07-2017 05:17 PM

The fact that 8 people have left in 4 weeks (and 6 of them were main characters) probably has something to do with how long it feels

Cal. 04-07-2017 05:19 PM

This sounds ridiculous as I type it but I'll probably be relieved when the backdoor eviction week rolls around and my favourites inevitably go because I just can't be arsed.

They gave it a Thursday launch and a Friday final and stuck with Helen's final pass/the Power Trip theme all series too despite all the criticism they received.

reece(: 04-07-2017 05:25 PM

This series has gone through many eras too

Arthur / Sukhvinder drams, Celeb guests, Kayleigh drams, Lotan/Ellie week, Newbies part 1, Fight Night etc

Oaker 04-07-2017 05:25 PM

I just realized that the only non-Celeb series to end on Friday under C5 are BB12 and BB15 :skull:

hmm don't see why they cut her down last year considering it was rating well and it was probably one of the most popular civilian seasons

Emma and Rylan won't do a long series anymore so they'd have to find new presenters.

This series really has been dragging on. Maybe because it's been so busy and we've had so many storylines? For the first time I actually want the civilian series to be over so we can get to CBB

I guess bigger and better things for miss Odudu, maybe Zezi can get her chance?

oh wow snap

Jodie. 04-07-2017 05:43 PM

Feels so long ago since we had Sukhvinder, and even people as recent as Rebecca/Lotan seem to have been gone long ago.

Jack_ 04-07-2017 06:58 PM

I'm in the minority of people who'd like a return to thirteen week series, if only because I'm forever annoyed that they always came so close to 100 days and never bothered to just make the leap

Ten weeks should be the absolute minimum though, the fact civilian is now only two weeks longer than CBB is a ****ing joke
