Why would each team pick raph and kieron to miss out on some money?
 

Did they know that would be part of it or did they just think they were elliminated from pressing the buzzer and future temptations.( good band name)

Because they knew they were the biggest competition.

Going by the video of their decision making conversations, each team decided that Raph and Kieran were the strongest members of the other team so got rid of them

Both were the quickest to the buzzer and competitive within their teams.

Raph and Kieran are the smartest in their respective teams imo

Exactly, Raph (from what we saw) was the only member of his team to successfully hit the button. Keirans is probably due to him being so competitive and they figured if it was a race to the button, Kieran would come out on top.

Yes they were told when they had to pick one HM from each team

I think it's because they were the best competitors from each team.

Housemates don't know they'll be playing to win/steal money for themselves yet - they only know that as two teams they're competing to raise the most money to go back into the prize fund - therefore they've cut the strongest member of the opposing team

Who knows - I'm already surprised they're doing nominations tomorrow and haven't tied them into this task, so if there's a separate shopping task too I'll be amazed
