Their parents should do some actual ****ing parenting then and supervise them. There's enough programs and apps for parents to monitor and restrict what children can access on the internet, this is just an excuse to test what controls the government can get away with putting on the internet, they're just using parents' fears to blind them into agreeing with it.

Next will be surveillance measures that will be justified through liberal use of the word 'terrorism'. People are fools that will throw away their own rights without a second thought as soon as the government tells them a scary story. It'll never ever work, sites like pornhub or xtube are hardly going to be asking for credit card details and the most they'll implement is "confirm your age by putting in your D.O.B"

I can't wait for you two to become parents in your ideal word where a parental control button shields kids from all manner of nasties..unfortunately it is not the case, kids go on sleepovers, they go to school, they go to clubs, they cannot be supervised 24 hours a day no matter how easy you think that is and given they nearly all have a smart phone now its practically impossible unless you are advocating that smart phone use is for over 18s only.

8 year olds having smart phones and internet access IS a parental responsibility though.

I find the idea of anyone under 12 having a mobile phone absolutely ridiculous tbh.

I'm Scotts Daddy and hes turned out fine.

(Also there are apps to monitor and/or restrict a childs phone).
