It's probably no coincidence that Isabelle, as the only English HM, wins over a Welshy, a Nigerian and whatever Raph is. It isn't surprising at all.

Bah, if you're going to vote for best HM then it was Deborah or Tom. I just have to say that Tom's edits did not do him any justice at all. If Andrew and Raph's award to Tom for being the most fun are to be believed, and also Emma's out-of-house remarks about Tom being energetic and fun then WE HAVE BEEN FOOLED once again!

I am delighted Raph didn't win. The bias was nauseating. Plus, as an American, 2nd place is last place, so he'll just have to tap into his Japanese parts for love peace and harmony.

Well, it's a bit complicated, but it's not about race, it's about cultural identity, and how, in Raph's case, multiple identities might shape his persona.

He has an advantage because they might fuse together, like a an alloy, into a kind of super-identity. So, Raph can be American, and strategise to win, and also be Japanese and feel the pleasure of Isabelle's victory. Japanese culture is very interesting. And yes, the Japanese are a distinct race, so for them, it is ALL about race - but not for me, and I hope not for you.

It was a dreadful year for cast members and it had nothing to do with where they came from, just their awful character. Isabelle and Raph were quite obviously the best of the bunch hence they finished top 2. Its not rocket science.

He was voted the most fun because he acts like a child all of the time. Most of the footage we saw of him drinking and partying were a little repetitive.

Oh Isabelle having the English support was always gonna be an advantage to her. But Tom did also have a few things in his corner that could've had him win but his behaviour in the first few weeks was not forgotten when it came down to it.

Sadly it looks like Raph and Deborah just couldn't get the momentum together to try and cross the finishing line, maybe it is because of the fact that a part American part Japanese guy is a minority within a minority? I'd like not to think like that but home territory does play a large part in how a result plays out. And Deborah being a black Nigerian woman is again three groups that are not exactly the most adored with the BB audiences so she did well to bag 3rd, really well.

I have to agree on the point that Raphs popularity on here was pretty much based on the fact that he was a fellow forum member and based on little else.
Some of us...and that includes myself, dared to point out negative sides and often set upon with ridiculous comments like.."well for someone who doesn't like Raph, you make a lot of posts about him"...or we were just put on ignore.
Pathetic really considering most were valid points. It kind of put me off posting anything...and that's sad considering it's a forum.

So you don't think that most of the negative stuff that was said about Raph made him out to be more sinister than he actually was? Even in his eviction interview he was exactly the same as he was in the house.

I honestly think that there's more to my point that he lost because of no home territory than him bagging 2nd place purely off of TIBB because that is just impossible to do.

That's just my point Mystic...perhaps people thought he was more sinister than others like you believe.
Raph played the game..he knows how to..he is a super fan. I found him sneaky and manipulative and that WAS his game.He probably isn't like that on the outside world...so his comments in his interview IMO were untrue.I don't think his loss was anything to do with not being on home territory...in that case why didn't Tom win with the whole of Wales voting for him.
Isabelle won because she was authentically humble..she didn't gossip or manipulate..she didn't play a victim or play 'the Outsider' role. It became clear at the end that she lacked confidence and self esteem but she never played on it.
Let's be honest a minority of people on here posted negative comments...it had no effect to the result...Isabelle was simply more liked.
