I've heard lots of girls say "Just gonna go make myself pretty" (i.e.. Put makeup on). They don't mean they're literally ugly without it. It's a figure of speech.

Just can't believe he'd be so rude and mean to a beautiful specimen of a female like this, I really hope that Danan and Chad can teach him something about chivalry in there

My point was, as they are girls, they're around other girls constantly yet that phrase offended them and wasn't just a figure of speech. Their reaction suggest it's not said by lots of girls.

They may well have felt offended and took it the wrong way because they themselves haven't heard it but any mature adult would get over it when they had the fact explained to them.

God help them if he'd said "Come on darling, put on your dancing shoes!"
