Can you sleep without telly on?

Never used to be a habit of mine until the past year or so :worry:

I can't sleep without the telly on now its horrendous.

Morgan. 12-08-2017 12:06 PM

I can but I prefer it to be on.

When i am at my mums I go to bed about 1/2am and switch the TV on, before sleeping. When she goes to bed about 2:30/3am she turns it off.

When I'm at my dads I go to bed about 10 and have to turn it off because he goes to bed about 9.

Firewire 12-08-2017 12:06 PM

I always turn it off before sleeping

Cal. 12-08-2017 12:07 PM

My telly has a timer it turns itself off anyway!

LukeB 12-08-2017 12:08 PM

I meant to vote no

I have my tv on a 3 hour timer when i go to sleep. Little bit of noise helps me get to sleep. (Watching c4 bb live feeds late at night helped a lot when they were sleeping)

Lostie! 12-08-2017 12:09 PM

Yeah you weirdo

smudgie 12-08-2017 12:09 PM

Varies.
Some nights I can some I can't.
Normally goes on at some point in the early hours due to my insomnia and I nod on and off.

Mine does but it's about 6 hours and because the walls are so thin everyone can hear it even when it's on volume 2 :joker:

I always have something pretty to sing me to sleep. Recently its been London Grammar / Alt J / Corinne Bailey Rae.
(Its a laptop thats permanently plugged into the TV, and I get some YT playlist up, I turn the brightness down and set a sleep timer so the TV automatically switches off an hour later, the TV then blasts the laptops 3 alarms 8 hours later).

Kazanne 12-08-2017 12:17 PM

My TV is on night and day, barring that the radio is on

Jake. 12-08-2017 12:22 PM

Of course I can, don't be so stupid!!

Nancy. 12-08-2017 12:23 PM

I can't sleep with the tv on, tbh. Never have done.

_Tom_ 12-08-2017 12:23 PM

This used to be me but now I don't have a TV in the bedroom. These days I can't sleep without listening to ASMR on my phone.

Crimson Dynamo 12-08-2017 12:37 PM

When I was younger I did go through a phase of needing the light on and the television. Now though I can't stand any noise whatsoever.

Shaun 12-08-2017 01:11 PM

yes

but i usually have to have the light on lol, more for practical reasons though. for whatever reason it allows me to wake up about 7am whereas whenever i have the light off i seem to sleep right through to 11 or whenever. not sure why.

TomC 12-08-2017 09:04 PM

i need complete darkness and silence
