why is Taylor Swift so overhyped all the time

every song she releases is a song which has most views on YouTube, ugh

i liked Love Story but it soon went downhill for me with Taylor

boring, and if we're talking about country, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood do a better job at slaying than Taylor but are so underrated

RileyH 29-08-2017 12:43 PM

imo Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood have about one or two good songs, Taylor has many

I agree. The public (or rather Sheeple) now enjoy vanilla artists who are like their best friend or next door neighbours instead of the untouchables we had in the 80's. I mean, back then we legends who constantly put out great material. Prince, MJ, Madonna, George Michael all produced thought proviking quality music and were ofen seen as controversial music Gods. Today we have the exact opposite. Watered down crap produced by non entities idolised by or spoon fed to the lowest common denominator. I sometimes sit and weep at the state of todays artists and their music. We must be really scraping the barrel when braindead scrotes like Justin Bieber is idolised. and then there's Ed Sheeran - the most boring person alive and about as entertaining as beige coloured wallpaper. The only artist I enjoy out of todays dull as dishwater cluster****s is Adele...and even then that's pushing it.

Saph 29-08-2017 02:12 PM

shes not sexy or attractive or anything either, theres like no appeal

It's not that people enjoy vanilla artists. I've been a fan of Taylor's music for many years and will continue to be a supporter. Music is different to what there was in the 80's and 90's etc. Music evolves and changes. I don't agree that music is spoon fed to the lowest at all. I just think you dislike popular music in general.

In answer to the thread, she isn't overhyped etc. I think Bieber, Sheeran and others are very overhyped compared to Taylor. I can't go five bloody minutes without hearing Despacito at the minute.

Agree completely :clap1:

Her lead releases are always over-hyped but the difference with Taylor and many other artists is that Taylor's a genuinely brilliant songwriter and her albums are great examples of that.

The Red album IMO is one of the best pop albums of the last decade.

Of course music has evolved, but not for the better. If it was better then why do so many people look back on previous decades with fondness and laugh at how awful music's become? Almost every song in the charts these days has a featuring artist with some rapper stuck in the middle of it rapping about cars, hoes and sex. Nothing about it is groundbreaking or revolutionary. Most of what's in the charts seem to have been dumbed down. Of course, we've always have embarrassing songs but this decade seems to have eclipsed all that and got worse.

What you said about me disliking popular music in general is so far from the truth. I think Lana Del Rey is great and so is Lorde... but that's just two examples. Taylor is definitely overhyped right now. You can't browse any website or listen to radio or watch tv without hearing about her. By the time this era is over she'll be more hyped than Ed Sheeran ever was....which basically equates to being spoon fed to the masses and forced to listen to or enjoy something some of us never gave a sh!te about in the first place. Thank f^ck I have my own mind and don't fall in line with everybody else.

I don't really see your point about past eras. I actively listen to 80's and 90's music, and I was born in 97. Yes, every song in the charts isn't for everyone. Also, you can't go anywhere without seeing her? That's because she has literally just released new music after three years away. The exact same happens with ANY new release. It's nothing new. Whenever a artist releases new music, they are everywhere and that's just because mainstream media pick up on it. What's the deal? I don't see why it's suddenly just Taylor who is being "overhyped" when every other artist receives the same treatment when they release new music.

Rihanna wasn't. Neither was Lorde or Lana Del Rey, and I can think of a whole lot more too.

If you really think they had the same level of exposure as Taylor and Ed Sheeran then you're kidding yourself.
