Was 2017 possibly the worst summer on record

September 1st today, so where did summer go? Did we ever have a summer????

I remember a few hot days but that was it. We even had snow where I am up North in May...

Pretty much downhill from now on.

Niamh. 01-09-2017 09:55 AM

I have my heater on in work today :worry:

Smithy 01-09-2017 10:11 AM

Can't wait for all the bugs to die and to get the fire lit, nice and cosy like :hee:

That'd be lovely if you never had to leave the house :worry:

We've had weeks of heat throughout the year, "seasons" aren't really noticeable anymore.

UserSince2005 01-09-2017 10:32 AM

Wouldn't know. I scorched in Africa. Brown and beautiful now.

waterhog 01-09-2017 10:40 AM

Lostie! 01-09-2017 10:41 AM

We've had lots of hot days. Too much for my liking.

Hope we have a cold autumn coming up to compensate.

Crimson Dynamo 01-09-2017 10:46 AM

Yes today is the first day of Autumn

Summer up here was just grand although May was the best month. We did not get the rain the south got. :smug:

Met Office climate scientist Dr Mark McCarthy said: “People may well remember the 2017 summer as a bit of a damp squib, but interestingly although it has been notably wetter than average for many areas it has also be warmer than average. The warm settled periods at the end of June and the beginning of July helped boost the average temperatures.”

Been a grand summer.
Plenty of sunshine but not too many days and nights that were too uncomfortably hot.
Love love love the feeling of Autumn coming on.

People seem to forget that autumn's technically not for another few weeks yet.

Incorrect, you are referring to astronomy and is thread is about weather seasons and meteorology.

My seasons start on the original dates.
But I have no problem with us having 2 start/end dates for the seasons.

It was hotter in May/June than it was in July/August.
