Hurricane Irma. Category 5
Late Tuesday, the massive Category 5 storm was almost upon islands like Antigua and Barbuda with near-record 185 mph sustained winds. In its 11 p.m. ET advisory, the US National Hurricane Centre said the eye of the hurricane was 50 miles from the two islands. The centre of the storm was moving to the west-northwest at 15 mph. The hurricane centre said the extremely dangerous core of Irma would hit the northern Leeward Islands -- which include Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Anguilla -- Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. http://i2.cdn.cnn.com/cnnnext/dam/as...xlarge-169.jpg http://i2.cdn.cnn.com/cnnnext/dam/as...xlarge-169.jpg http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphi...e_and_wind.png http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-41168117 Anyone thinking of going to Florida this weekend can forget it. |

The latest is it's made landfall in Cuba as a cat 5 160mph storm. Depending on how much land interaction between it hitting Cuba and going back out to sea towards Florida happens will decide how strongly it'll hit the US. Still, considering this storm managed to maintain winds of 185mph for three days, I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if it rebuilds itself and hits Florida as a cat 5. Unbelievable storm. Reminds me of Haiyan in a lot of ways.
Meanwhile Jose is pretty much a Cat 5 now too. Winds of 155mph and Cat 5 starts at 157mph. Looking very likely it's going to hit some of the islands that were flattened by Irma before it curves out to sea and towards Bermuda. Those poor poor people. |
I'm in Georgia and we are pretty ****ed too. Basically a 8/10 chance of tornados here too... little scared but super glad my work is closed Monday

It's all true, we are also partaking in naruto running into the hurricane, telling the hurricane it can't sit with us and pointing all of our fans at the hurricane so it blows the other way |
But I mean it's here now so none of our plans worked
