Not sure how this is any different from a newspaper article (like this one). Newspapers take pics to show their readers and make money from them, the tourist took pics to show friends and I would probs take a pic if I was passing.

How do you feel about it?

Tom4784 29-09-2017 12:34 PM

It's utterly vile.

The media should take pictures to help inform people and keep it fresh and relevant on the minds of the public. The only people that benefit from turning it into a tourist attraction are the tour companies like this one.

Imagine having what is essentially the tomb of someone you love become a place where people take selfies with. It's exploitative and disgusting.

The hole where the Twin Towers was is a massive tourist site and the Titanic thing in Belfast was voted the best tourist attraction in Europe

If people are interested in that sort of thing, and someone is enterprising enough to get money from said people, good luck to 'em.

That's a good point, we went to the Twin Towers museum and I have to said I was a bit uncomfortable by the end of it, not sure how the families feel, a memorial is one thing but a museum you pay to get into, to see film footage of the planes flying into the towers and iron girders, I was sorry I went. The little church that survived intact is a much better place to visit, it feels serene and fitting.

I think it is was a bit stupid to take the tourists, not sure why anyone would need a personal pic when its all over the net

would you be saying the same if you have family members who perished mere months ago?

The Twin Towers becoming a toursit attraction is vile too and shouldn't be justification for Grenfell becoming one only months after hundreds of people lost their lives.

Titanic is a bit different since over a hundred years have passed now and any survivors are likely dead at this point so it's not likely to offend anyone who had experienced it or lost someone they knew personally in the tragedy.

Whatever happens now,Grenfell happened.Nothing can change that.It was a tragic and horrifying event. However if people are interested and want to see it I don’t see a problem. If anything it serves as a reminder for people in regards to health and safety measures. To always check where you’re living is as safe as it can be.

Probably. Labour have been sperging on about how it "represents a broken system", and the media have been on about it ever since as well, so why should some selfie-seekers get a good snap before its remains are pulled down?

This is a perfect metaphor for capitalism isn't it?... It matters not how many people were exploited, suffered or died. Someone somewhere is making money, therefore it's justifiable.

No-one's being exploited, suffering, or dying from selfies being taken.

The Coliseum in Rome, one of the words biggest tourist attractions, Pompei, the pyramids in egypt. Death sites are the most popular tourist attractions. People flocked to Lockerbie as I recall too. Can't say it floats my boat, but people do seem to be inherently morbid

most of the young people on tibb love watching people die gruesome deaths in films and all will dress up as death and destruction come halloween

personally, I think it's wrong, seriously, many people lost their lives there! I know, they're tourists, but seriously, sometimes people need to know that there are some boundaries. Who in the right heart would actually do that! These things make me really worry for the human race...

Taking photos makes you worry for the human race?

Taking photos in front of sites where people died is what I'm worried for.
Taking photos with completely no harm are perfectly normal...maybe you misunderstood my opinion...

So if you went to the Coliseum or Pompeii, I'm guessing you wouldn't take any photos?

I didn't misunderstand it, I just thought it was a bit over the top.

Residents have put signs up asking them to stop. Respect should be shown to those who are still suffering.

I've been to the twin towers memorial but it was a memorial and not the remains of a building that killed so many. Grenfell Tower is not a memorial, its an undemolished tomb of the tragedy that is still raw in peoples minds.

Well there is one hastily prepared sign but no one would know who wrote it and they have no authority to tell anyone anything to be fair

Try YouTube. I think you will find a lot more than one.
