Streaming in the (album) charts

What’s yall opinion on it? Streaming in the charts in general too I guess

In the US this week the #2 album is predicted to sell LESS than 1,000 copies but because of streaming, its SPS is at ~50k

Should streaming be allowed in the album chart when it’s already included in the singles chart, especially in cases like this where the single is literally selling the album

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 29-09-2017 09:10 PM

no because the charts are literally supposed to a ranking of who sold most so

it’s just a mess

Marsh. 29-09-2017 09:15 PM

No. I'm completely against streaming being involved in charts full stop.

As Scott said, it's supposed to be a reflection of who sold the most.

Jamie89 29-09-2017 09:17 PM

I think there should just be two separate charts, a sales chart and a streaming chart, converting streams to sales just to merge them into one seems pointless to me. It's made the charts a mess and less meaningful than they used to be.

Streaming should be included, charts should represent the most popular music whether it's been bought, downloaded or streamed

Same, some people cannot afford so streaming represents what the poor huns are listening to

Denver 30-09-2017 07:23 AM

It stops people like Pink getting deserved #1

hun, Pink went horribly offkey live at radio 1 with her new song :hehe:

a reason for her not being the #1

but i want honest and fair charts, not just a popularity contest anymore, the charts have become so predictable and boring :(

Jake. 30-09-2017 08:12 AM

But an album is set to be #2 in the charts this week despite selling less than 1k, surely there’s something wrong with the system if this is what happens

Yeah, we pay £10 a month for streaming so we not going to download music from itunes when we can already listen to them high quality.

Denver 30-09-2017 12:31 PM

They should do 10k streams = 1 sale

Dua deserved a #1 over Pink :flowers:

Denver 30-09-2017 12:43 PM

P!nk has sold way more then her and been in Itunes top 3 for 8 straight weeks

Samm 30-09-2017 12:44 PM

it's sad that actual sales are drying, but you have to adopt to the future, pop girlies need to find some way of targeting music on streaming services instead

Withano 30-09-2017 12:50 PM

Streaming charts and sales charts should be two different things. And people will only be interested in one of them.

But that's not what a chart should be.

It's about sales, not listens. Otherwise radio play would factor in. :fist:
