Quentin Tarantino said that he failed to act despite knowing about allegations against Harvey Weinstein for a long time.

Tarantino, 54, worked with Weinstein, 65, regularly throughout his career and admitted that most who knew the director knew that there were sexual harassment allegations against him.

One such instance that Tarantino know about was when Weinstein settled a case with actress Rose McGowan.

Speaking to the New York Times, the director said: ‘I knew enough to do more than I did.

‘There was more to it than just the normal rumours, the normal gossip. It wasn’t second hand. I knew he did a couple of these things.

‘I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him.

‘We allowed it to exist because that’s the way it was.’

Weinstein is facing many allegations of sexual assault in the US and in the UK.

The most recent claim against the producer came from a woman who reported Weinstein to the Los Angeles Police Department for an alleged incident dating back to 2013.

Weinstein’s spokesperson Sallie Hofmeister said last week: ‘Mr Weinstein obviously can’t speak to anonymous allegations, but he unequivocally denies allegations of non-consensual sex.’

There have also been five allegations made in the UK, which the Metropolitan Police are currently investigating.

Oscar winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o also came out and claimed that Weinstein made sexual advances on a number of occasions.

During one of which she recalls him asking for a massage before attempting to remove his trousers.

She said: ‘I didn’t quite know how to process the massage incident.’

Sounds like a bit of face-saving to me... I've heard plenty of rumours about his own conduct and don't want to entertain them because of my love of his work/personality. But giving this interview seems short-sighted and destined to produce a chorus of "well why didn't you, then?"s from its readers.

It does seem like face saving, but that said, it's still better than what most will do... which is pretend that "if there is truth to it then they definitely never saw or heard or knew anything nuh-uh no sir definitely not".
