What's this about original songs?
 

I've seen a few posts and threads about original songs, but I've not seen XFactor for a few weeks, so I'm a bit lost. Was there an "original songs" week, or are people allowed to perform original songs every week, as long as they fit the theme?

The theme this week was Express yourself so obviously the song writers sung their own songs (well, two acts did) but these two acts are now...

top of iTunes.. which goes to show the public want originality, so hopefully the X Factor takes this into consideration moving forward. It was SO refreshing having original songs this weekend, and the rest of the songs had also never been done on live shows before which was great too.

They won’t. She’s at 1.0 while Grace is 0.64 and RakSu are 0.62 - and they’re both falling already. Grace got to like 0.75 but that meant Camilla was still outselling by 4:3

It's not so much they want originality. As soon as X factor started releasing recordings of the performances each week we've had multiple acts have this during the live shows.

It just so happens that this time, the catchy songs that the viewers liked were original songs. I don't think most X factor viewers care whether they're singing covers or not as long as they're enjoying it.

Over however many years they’ve released songs, only two have EVER made top 10. Yet here we have two in the top 5, from the first week...

And one of those that made the top 10 (snatched #1) had never been heard before so was basically an original!

Exactly... the other was One Last Time by Lauren Murray (reached #8) and even that was a different arrangement to the original song.

Holly & Grace are easily the best anyway, I put money on it being them two and RakSu/CutKelvins

If there's ever gonna be a year where there's two girls in the final two, it'll be this one (Grace and Holly).

I can't see it happening though, I think Rak-Su will edge the latter out into third

RakSu are very good but I would be so mad if that happened
