Teacher who took “upskirt” photos of his students at a London school *might* face

a ban.............

MIGHT? The BIB what the actual ****?

Despite admitting to the claims, Andrew Corish won’t go to prison, because what he did isn’t technically a crime

Andrew Corish, a teacher from an all-girls school in Croydon, admitted he used his phone to film up pupils’ skirts and stored the images and videos for sexual gratification. As a punishment for preying upon young girls and taking advantage of his position as an assistant headteacher, he potentially faces a classroom ban. That’s it. That’s all. That is the full extent of his punishment.

He will not go to prison, because what he did technically, incomprehensibly, does not constitute a criminal offence.

Despite the fact that, in April last year, Cornish pleaded guilty to voyeurism, a month later the judge rejected the plea, ruling that the students weren’t in a place where they could reasonably expect privacy, such as in their homes or a changing room, and therefore Corish’s actions don’t constitute voyeurism. The Crown Prosecution Service applied for indecent images of children charges to be added, but the judge ruled the images “were not of an indecent nature”.

Without facing any legal ramifications, Corish’s behaviour was examined by The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) misconduct panel, in which Corish admitted all the allegations in a witness statement. The panel chair ruled that Cornish’s actions “involved breaches of the teachers’ standards” and it will consider whether to recommend sanctions or a ban to the education secretary. It will consider whether to recommend sanctions or a ban. Despite admitting his guilt, Corish hasn’t immediately been banned from entering a classroom.

These young girls have been failed by a teacher who was meant to keep them safe, by a legal system that fails to recognise Corish’s actions as a crime, and again by the NCTL panel.

You can join the almost 67,000 people who have signed a petition to make upskirting illegal here.

That's....utterly ridiculous. If he can't face legal charges (once again, utterly ridiculous) then he should be banned from teaching for life without a second thought since he has admitted it.

He may struggle to get a position as a self confessed pervert, let's hope so at least :/

That's disgusting.

My friend has got a friend who is a guy who had mirrors on his shoes and was putting them under women's skirts so he could see up :yuk: Think he got found out and was in trouble with the police as well, not sure what happened though.

He should be sacked. Parents and governors need to insist.:fist:

i'm sure the fathers of the girls could arrange a little castration party for him at an opportune moment.

Seriously though, parent power must surely come into play. Boycott the school until they get shot of him.

Kizzy 07-11-2017 02:42 PM

Wouldn't they be indecent images of children?

Judge needs serious looking into imo

Josy 07-11-2017 02:53 PM

Why wouldn't those be classed as indecent images of children

Get that dodgy judge looked at

Oliver_W 07-11-2017 03:29 PM

Is ot an urban myth that nearly all employers, especially ones involving children or vulnerable people, google the names of applicants? If they do, this incident being in the media will be as effective as a classroom ban.

I had a teacher who liked to put the girls who wore short skirts in the front rows and then "drop his chalk" several times per lesson. Dirty bastard. It was a running joke at the time but looking back on it... really dodgy!

What's worse is that we were actually forced to wear skirts, I got in so many arguments with teachers in secondary school because of it, because I never ever wore skirts or dresses as a kid/teenager and I hated that I was being made to do it. Pretty much all schools here have uniforms which i don't mind but that they forced girls to wear skirts I do have a problem with. Thankfully in my kids school now the girls can choose to wear a skirt or pants and guess what? about 99% of them wear pants...........

eta pants as in trousers that is

I was in the transitional era :joker:. Up until I was about 15 the girls had to wear skirts, then a large group from my year staged a protest about it and one got her dad (some bigwig lawyer) involved and eventually the school caved and allowed girls to wear trousers or leggings. It was like suffrage all over again... in a small Scottish high school :hee:. There should be a movie.

Spoiler:

One of my teachers left my school to teach in the local girls' school, and before that his behaviour was ... Suspect. He'd give out reward stickers, and hand them to boys to stick on themselves, but put them on girls chests himself, and pat them in place. Along with asking them inappropriate questions and comments, I don't think anyone was too happy about the next school he was going to. Local grapevines say the head at the other school basically asked him to resign, because he was a good teacher and "deserved one last chance at a school where he didn't have the same reputation." A less reliable rumour was that he arranged a fan to blow their skirts up.

My french teacher was like this. The whole school knew he was a perv too. Would always be overly touchy feely with the girls, would ask us to remove jumpers then stand behind us looking down our tops, was always always 'dropping' things right infront of the desks of girls with skirts. I believe he still works at the school. Its probably still a well known thing too, just he has managed to not outright rape any pupil (or be reported for it) so alls hunky dory D:

My head of year...started a relationship with a (at the time underage) pupil a few years before we joined and never got sacked for it. He married this pupil in the end.

This was not college. It was just seniors.

I'm so confused. How is that possible

Ikr, I work in a school and I can't even be in a selfie with a pupil - a consential picture of basically shoulders up is apparently worse than sneaky underwear pictures?
