Hunted deer fought back.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-a8042311.html

No sympathy with the hunter I’m afraid. Good on the deer I say. I hate the hunting and killing of animals for sport and it’s about time that one of the most hunted, the deer, fought back.

if you play with knives...

Kizzy 08-11-2017 08:06 AM

France's environment minister Nicolas Hulot to criticise hunting with hounds as "a practice from another century".

Or in other words, England :/

Do you really want to go down the road of so-called centuries old ‘traditions’ and their dubious practiceses. We seem to adopting some such ‘traditions’ from others, that seem perfectly ok with you.

Totally agree. Reading that has made my morning.

I'll humour you, go on enlighten me.

No need, it has been said to death - you just conveniently ignore it as it clashes with your agenda.

user104658 08-11-2017 08:31 AM

I'm not necessarily AGAINST hunting, but I do think that guns should be banned. And hunting in groups. It should only be legal to do it solo, on foot and armed with one small knife. And then we could keep score.

My money would be on the animals tbh, the ones that aren't stronger than humans are usually faster. We're sort of crap .

I also really don't get how the article is describing it as a "tragic accident"... they cornered an animal with the intent of killing it, and instead it killed one of them. I'm sure it is tragic for his family even if he was doing something sh*tty, but how can it possibly be described as an "accident"

I'm genuinely bewildered that you would take your own thread about deer hunting off topic within the first few posts and make it an argument about Muslims and still be making the claims of innocence that you were yesterday, Brillo. What's more, I expect your supporters will STILL pretend not to see the issue . I for one don't particularly want to go back there so - since you were insisting in that thread yesterday that if we don't like your views on this subject we could simply stay out of those threads - could you, at least, make an effort to keep it out of other unrelated threads? You made a thread about hunting. A topic that most people on here (maybe everyone?) actually DOES agree on. Keep it about hunting maybe?

I was bringing a horse in one day during pheasant hunting season. As we walked along this track, my horse suddenly stopped and started snorting at something just ahead of us. It was a large beautiful stag looking straight at us and standing stock still. I then heard a voice just behind me saying, "hold your fire" and turned to see several gunmen. I just stood there refusing to move until the stag turned and ran in the other direction.

It wasn't dear shooting season. They were not permitted to hunt deer but many hunters are opportunists who often break the law providing nobody is watching. Hunters of the western world are people who enjoy killing and people who enjoy killing, deserve all they get if the hunted animal kills them.

I noticed in that article that they've just passed the hunting of stags in Epping forest.

There you go again attempting to hijack threads with your cryptic nonsense.
Stick to the topic for once!

What?.... Unbelievable :(

user104658 08-11-2017 08:55 AM

There is a large overpopulation issue with deer, HOWEVER the reintroduction of natural predators is a much, much better solution to that problem than allowing bored arseholes with guns to go out shooting them for probably pseudosexual thrills. In my opinion it's not really all that different to the sociopaths who go out killing people's pets... it's just a legitimate / legal version of it.

I intend to. But if you notice I responded to a direct sarcastic insinuation about centuries old traditions that seemed very hypocritical to me bearing in mind that poster’s stance on other centuries old traditions. A hard one to ignore.

I hope they didn’t get that poor stag. Very disappointed in the Epping forest decision.

I just mean in general. The justification for hunting is often to "restore equilibrium", but the fact is, it was humans that wrecked that equilibrium in the first place by hunting and trapping OTHER animals to local extinction. It was a system that was working perfectly well for tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years before humans decided that they "knew better" and decided to get rid of the supposedly "dangerous" wildlife.

Livia 08-11-2017 09:26 AM

If you need to bring down animal numbers use a marksman to shoot them with a clean shot. Anyone who wants to kill something for fun is a weirdo to me.

Crimson Dynamo 08-11-2017 09:36 AM

They have to kill the deer in Richmond park every now and then and its done as humanely as possible but to shoot a Stag for fun is disgusting murder and should be treated as such

Kizzy 08-11-2017 09:45 AM

A deer nearly killed my daughter on the M62 there needs to be some containment granted but bloodsports?... No.
For food? Maybe.

Not for me. But whatever it should be done humanely.

Kazanne 08-11-2017 11:42 AM

Good for the stag I say,no sympathy for the man whatsoever .

jet 08-11-2017 12:42 PM

Anyone who hunts for sport should be shot themselves. They are nothing short of murderers.
