Will lessons have been learnt?

Looking back at all the racism/bullying issues that happened do you think that lessons will of been learnt for this time? Do you think housemates will think twice before speaking about someone of another race or colour? How do you think the previous issues will change this big brother and others ahead? If there is a housemate who is of another race and housemates talk behind there backs....do you think big brother should/would step in or leave them to it?

Jack 09-05-2007 03:21 PM

I think housemates may feel stifled and not speak their mind (even if the comments are not racist) which is a shame.

andybigbro 09-05-2007 03:24 PM

Yeah If there is Someone of A different Race in the House then they will be carefull

MarkWaldorf 09-05-2007 03:25 PM

Probably not. Being locked up in a house for 3 months is bound to mess with you, mentally. It'll do stuff to people, stuff which they may regret.

Sunny_01 09-05-2007 03:26 PM

I hope that lessons have been learned by the makers! they need to nip things in the bud a lot sooner than they did on CBB otherwise it will be a nightmare

Jack 09-05-2007 03:27 PM

Having said that in previous series housemates have been far more racist than Jade was in CBB5. For example attacks on Shahbaz (calling him Shabab and Shiraz). Craig in BB6 was also racist calling Makosi 'Queen Africa' and Kemal 'Kebab'. Housemates ought to be very careful indeed.

GlitterEyes 09-05-2007 03:27 PM

I think alot could be blocked out and that is a shame because there is enough sound dips in it already and it will ruin the flow of the show. I think they cannot put in housemates all of the same colour...because questions would be raised but equally if they do put a mix of races they run the risk of it all going bottoms up again.

GiRTh 09-05-2007 03:29 PM

I doubt it. I think no publicity is bad publicity and the show will be as controversial as ever.

There has always been a mix in BB, so it'll most likely be the same this year. But hopefully for some housemates, other cultures won't be a culture shock for them, which happened in CBB. They should really just become interested, and not use it against them, like Jo and co did.

I think it will be like walking into a room, which is in total darkness and full of broken glass on the ground and you have to walk in bare feet and try to find your path through the broken glass, but as you can't see a thing, it is totally futile.

From that little story, I can guarantee with absolute certainty that ALL housemates who are white will be very, very, very aware of what occured and what not to do in Big Brother 8

You can just tell that any little thing said in a negative to way to a black or asian housemate it's going to be blown out of proportion and exagerated by the press.

Yeah, that's true. It's always going to lead back to CBB.

A very astute observation Jackboi89.

It will be found and the Newspaper editors will be ready.

There is only one big problem! If the editors from Endemol can't do their job properly this time round, then it is better to shut-up-shop and pull the plug on the show immediately.

The responsibility lies with them to NOT repeat CBB Jan.

I think theyll be a bit nicer to each other this time. What i saw of celeb bb there was bullying and arguing so i dont think theyll want to be like that.

Cody™ 09-05-2007 03:39 PM

i wonder if they will even be sending members of the minority groups in the house at all...

If they didn't do that, what would everybody from minority groups think?

I think that Endemol will have already worked that out.

I have a very good opinion, that there will be members of that group as housemates

Perhaps more than ever before? Just to prove that we are a nation who cares.

What group? Theres many minorities.

Would be quite interesting if the switched it up completely having 11 people of colour and one white person to see how that would work but cannot see that happening. Having an equal amount would be interesting to see how they bond and how they form friendships but I think that would be making bb8 to much trying to make a point.

I hope they dont try to put too many people from different countries in on purpose to make up for all that stuff from celeb bb. Id like them to just put in some nice people who are up for fun.

GiRTh 09-05-2007 04:10 PM

I think we're thinking far too much about race. I think the housemates will have enough problems in therewithout how their word might sound. There have been other minor racist incidents in the past but nothing of the scale of CBB5. You need a special kind of a*sehole to cause a ruck like that so step up Jade Goody.

Last year only had two people of colour. One was a total fruit and nutcase, and the other did not even get into the house. If we count Aisleyne as an honorary black person I have to say that last years house was anything but a fair representation of the British public.

I really hope we don't end up with simliar problems to what we had during CBB, in the end it was like we were watching a completely different show to BB.

nodisharmony 09-05-2007 04:36 PM

Davina McCall would concur with that view:thumbs:
