HMRC - the only time they seem to do their job

is when they are sending demands for money,

I should have been moved onto a new tax code when I quit a job in August and still waiting, when I rang up I asked if she had notification that I had stopped working and she said yes we have the figures, so why do I need to ring up and wait for 40 minutes on the phone for you to do your job :oh:

I reckon they should pay us the same interest rate on any tax they owe us as what they would charge if we are late paying.:fist:

So much form filling, unless you are prepared to wait until the next tax year for your rebate.

Yeah they definitely should. It can be a nice surprise in your wage when you eventually get it if you’re not keeping track but when you know you’re owed it you realise just how long it takes them.
When you owe them though they’re always on the ball.

they never paid Mr C's tax rebate and when they were contacted they said it would take 6 weeks to respond, in the end they needed some figures they hadn't asked for :idc:

It’s always the same. A good case of taking but not giving. Any public service now is a nightmare to deal with.

I was on the flat 20% on all earnings emergency tax code for 8 full months in the job I had in my final Uni year. That was quite nice when I eventually managed to get it back.

It was a full 18 months later, though :umm2:.
