Dating in the 21st century

Do you think women will have to take the lead in dating in the 21st century?
This stuff seem crazy but is apparently true.

Touching somebody’s arm can be considered sexual assault(ref:Wright Stuff C5HD).
Sexual touching can carry a maximum sentence of 10 years.

A Labour MP Ivan Lewis is under investigation after he allegedly invited a woman back to his house and brushed her knee.

Asking a work colleague out can now be considered sexual harassment.

People in Westminster are being investigated for text messages.Iirc somebody invited a woman to the cinema.

Should men let women make the moves nowadays to protect themselves and stay within the law?

Or maybe some kind of written contract should be used?
I don’t date anymore but it seems like it’s getting ever more complicated.
Since a man could potentially be accused of sexual harassment if he asks a woman out on a date should the man now just sit back and wait until the lady asks?

A Wright Stuff poll showed that 57% of people would think twice about asking the person they fancy out.
Mistletoe is being banned or outlawed by some councils for fear of legal action.

its ridiculous, you can't even get your wee fella out in public these days without being accused of exposing yourself :fist:

Seriously though, things often go completely in the opposite direction until a new balance is achieved, and I think we are starting to see that push now. Once these pervs are dealt with, things should start to settle down again.

Hopefully so.

I think men Possibly need to watch themselves for now and sit on their hands until it does all settle down.To protect themselves from these accusations of inappropriately asking out.Let the lady make the moves.Glad i’m all settled down now. It’s a minefield.

I don't think it is tbf. People are making a mountain out of a molehill, how many "normal everyday" men do you actually personally know have been accused of sexual assault/harassment for chatting someone up or asking for their number? Actually scratch that how many celebs have been accused for doing any of those things?

It seems like a way of shutting women up to me

The vast majority of men treat women with respect, its very few in my experience that don't., and at the end of the day, that's what it's all about. I've known some complete arse holes, that were always obnoxious toward women, and those are the ones that funnily enough are in trouble now, and it's about time.

It's quite simple, don't touch people if they don't want to be touched. If you ask someone out and they say no, leave it be. Have the slightest bit of professionalism when it comes to relationships in the work place. Have some basic respect for other people.

This whole 'EVERYTHING IS CONSIDERED SEXUAL HARASSMENT' argument is pure bull**** by men that are desperate to be victimised.

Tbf all my mates are settled down these days.I’ve never seen it happen but things have changed for singles now.
If i was single i’d deffo be worried about asking a work colleague out.
What exactly is inappropriate asking out or inappropriate advances? Is it only ok if the other person fancies you?but you might not know until you ask.MP’s are being investigated for that.
Obvs women could be accused too but i’d say its much less likely.

I think the problem is over-familiarity though. The solution to being "safe" is a pretty simple one; don't make advances until you know the person well enough to know what is and isn't going to cause problems.

And that's just pretty good dating advice in general. Get to know someone well enough to know whether or not you're actually compatible and on the same page before blindly "making a move" and hoping for the best... and there really shouldn't be any issue.

In a workplace setting... You wouldn't ask someone out until you've been friendly for a while and something naturally develops? For someone to consider it harassment, I can only imagine it's because people are asking out or coming onto people they barely know just because they "fancy them" a bit".
