Getting old and craggy and stale

So, I know there are plenty of old people on here... I'm 32 now so getting on a bit myself, and although I still pass for like 26 because I'm beautiful and haven't lost any hair, I do have a question:

IS your eyes being totally ****ed in the morning just a normal thing for us old folk??

I have always had 20/20 eyesight and I still do for most of the day... except like the first hour or so where my vision is blurry AF?? Reading on screens is especially challenging . But it goes away after a while so it can't just be my overall eyesight surely . Is this some sort of common affliction for the aged OR am I going to end up needing glasses? Because I don't think I would suit glasses + don't want them :worry:

Maybe you have a dry eye syndrome or similar, get it checked out anyway.

And no its not a thing for normal eyes or getting older.

hijaxers 29-11-2017 07:29 AM

You really must see an optician to have the backs of your eyes checked as blurry vision can be caused by many things - worst being diabetes or cataracts, it could also be a few other things so it really needs to be checked properly. Act early as it will probably get worse not better and take it from someone with an eye problem you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy - never ignore early signs.

I have the diabetic retinopathy test yearly as i have diabetes (well under control though) its not over nice but bearable.

Just get checked to be sure , you may spec's and if you do i'm sure you'll look great in them.

Sounds like screen damage to me....reading glasses.

This is a symptom of watching too much porn.

Your eye sight isnt like a simple switch where it works or it doesnt. In order to focus properly we use the muscles in our eyes which is why as peoples sight gets worse. they tend to squint etc because they are using those eye muscles more.

If i was a betting man, its because you haven't warmed up your eye muscles for the day after a sleep. So it's probably the first sign that they are deteriorating. Best thing is to go and get an eye test, its dirt cheap.

hijaxers 29-11-2017 07:41 AM

Oh and you are certainly not old, craggy or stale.

thesheriff443 29-11-2017 07:44 AM

Just keep an eye on it.

Crimson Dynamo 29-11-2017 07:45 AM

In all seriousness go to the optician in Tesco/boots/local and have a 5 min eye test. Its fun and they check the eye for all sorts as well as needing glasses

Best not to fck around with vision

:nono:

and dont think "oh I cant be bothered"

smudgie 29-11-2017 08:17 AM

Get them checked out.
I am old, I am diabetic and I have had cataracts, so fit the criteria for most of the mentioned suspected reasons, however...I have never had a time when my vision was more blurred the first hour or so in the morning than the rest of the day.
Most people have a bit of sleep in their eyes first thing and might make it fuzzy for a minute or so, but not an hour.
Try getting up, having your breakfast etc before you turn the screen on, your eyes might be overtired. See if it helps any, but either way, get them peepers checked out TS.
Not good to ignore it.

It's more like they're dry / "gloopy". The internet says it's quite likely to be dehydration... I'm feeling like this is a good culprit, because we decided to cut fizzy out of our diet months ago and instead of replacing it with other fluids of any kind, I just didn't, and come to think of it, have been basically having 3 coffees a day as my only fluid intake.

My organs are probably shutting down or something.

thesheriff443 29-11-2017 08:52 AM

As you can tell, I'm not taking this seriously, this is a big brother forum not nhs direct.

I disagree, he is an stale pale male, ripe for the knitting club

On another note you need to go to the opticans but in the meantime when you get up place a hot face flannel on your eyes for a few minutes, all opticians seem to advise this to get your tear ducts clear or something, this works especially well for gloopy eyes

She really wants a dog and I keep saying no, not until we have a bigger (and not rented) house. She would probably blind me on purpose just to get a guide dog :(.

In other news: My eye is now bloodshot and stinging and my daughter was saying the same a few nights back (having had a bad dose of flu all last week) so I reckon we actually have ****ing conjunctivitis. Awesome. :bawling:
