MI5 foil islamist plot to assassinate the PM
 

A terror plot to assassinate Prime Minister Theresa May has been foiled, Sky sources have confirmed.

Sky's Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "It's the latest in a number of terror plots that police and MI5 believe they've foiled this year.

"I understand that the head of MI5, Andrew Parker, briefed Cabinet ministers today (Tuesday), such is the seriousness of what they believed they have uncovered.

"It is in essence an extreme Islamist suicide plot against Downing Street. Essentially police believe that the plan was to launch some sort of improvised explosive device at Downing Street and in the ensuing chaos attack and kill Theresa May.

"This is something which has been pursued over several weeks at least by Scotland Yard, MI5 and West Midlands Police.

"It came to a head last week with the arrest of two men, by armed police, who were charged with preparing acts of terrorism."

Naa'imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, from north London, and Mohammed Aqib Imran, 21, from southeast Birmingham, are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on terror charges on Wednesday morning.

I've played enough needlessly violent videogames to know that this is a really bad plan surely? If there's "chaos", the PM and other high profile people are going to be absolutely SWARMED by security :shrug:.

Not even original in their thinking. The IRA actually tried it in the past, and it wasn't successful. Downing Street may look pretty "normal" from the outside, but its anything but in the inside

Is this a ploy to get the public behind may? Hopkins has stated there was a foiled attempt on her too recently... Hmmm.
The cynic in me is thinking that this news will be eaten up by the 'immigrunt' haters as the tories mop up the voters vomited by ukip.

It's always annoyed me that any terrorist has in the past gone for the public..... the govt don't give a **** about the public! When are they going to realise that?
Maybe they just have, or maybe this is just tabloid bollox?

So he intended to blow up the gates of Downing Street and then make his way into No.10. Most people probably know that you can't open the door of No.10 from the outside. You have to be let in.

I'm very proud of our security services, thank God for them.

Err I have seen a documentary about it called "Love Actually" so I know for a fact that inside, 10 Downing Street is just a normal 4 bed terraced and the only people in there are a dancing prime minister and a housekeeper. Outside, there is one unarmed police officer.
