Kiri (C4 drama with Sarah Lancashire)

Quote:

BAFTA-winner Jack Thorne (National Treasure) returns to Channel 4 with a powerful and compelling new 4-part serial drama. Kiri examines the abduction of a young black girl, named Kiri, who is soon-to-be-adopted by her white foster family, and the trail of lies, blame, guilt and notoriety that follows.

At the heart of the drama lies Miriam, played by BAFTA and RTS award-winner Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax), an experienced, no-nonsense social worker who loves and believes in her job, but has a maverick and instinctive approach to protecting the children in her care. Miriam arranges for Kiri to have an unsupervised visit with her biological grandparents. But when Kiri disappears during the visit, the fingers of suspicion and blame from the police, the press, and even her colleagues, point firmly at Miriam. As the media spotlight around the story intensifies, Miriam, as well as both sets of families, are forced to ask the toughest questions, not just of themselves, but of each other.

I remember seeing the advert for this series but virgin tv at the time did not allow a bookmark (wasn't even listed) and I completely forgot about it although knew it was out at some point and low and behold it's already been on! lol

Such a pain in the butt when shows are advertised and you can't make a bookmark (eg with sky you would see the advert and press 'red' to bookmark) so when it began you wouldn't miss it :)

Nicky91 19-01-2018 11:06 AM

okay this could be good

-Sue- 19-01-2018 12:00 PM

I must say am on Ep 2 now. however I do find the subject of the series hard (being a parent)

At this point great series but Happy Valley will be my preferred series of choice

Watched episode 1 and it was as brilliant as I thought it'd be. Sarah is such a great actress :worship:

Sarah is a great actress...however I have heard the ending is crap...as are most of these short dramas. Doctor Foster was the same..:fist:

LaLaLand 10-02-2018 09:45 PM

The ending was so rubbish I was fuming. There was just no impact/payoff after a huge build.

Shaun 28-02-2018 10:07 PM

Just finished it and agree with Jonnii. Such a shame as the rest was excellent.

-Sue- 01-03-2018 05:49 PM

Good series but Happy Valley for me was far better

Cherie 01-03-2018 05:51 PM

Not a great ending, but it may have a second series to tie up the loose ends maybe
