Housemates continue to misgender India Willoughby
|
Sigh...
|
Ignorant *****.
|
It's a fairly easy and understandable thing to slip up with in a conversation probably partly because she has a very masculine appearance in size, facial features and body shape. That's probably quite visually confusing. It's not a crime, just impolite since that's not how she wishes to be referred as. I very much doubt it's in any way deliberate or intended to upset.

Continue? the headline is misleading as it suggests Ann did it again, Rachel is a new one and I wonder if we will see it
|
they showed a clip of this on BOTS last night
it was accidental but rachel and ann did it numerous times in the space of a few seconds :skull: |

It's impolite. That's the extent of it. How many hm's have been impolite to each other over the years of BB? How is this news?
|
Yeah it’s not a crime(yet) over here. It’s close to being one in Canada though(bill C-16).
Compelled speech is the beginning of a dictatorship |
entirely understandble

At least India wasn't there, they probably see her as masculine as she does look quite masculine at times, if you have someone as male in your head to naturally call them she could be just slip ups,,Ann did say she has to edit herself and yes Rachel looks on her as he too, they didn't do it maliciously I don't think.

I don't think the fact that she is masculine in appearance is the cause of it. Otherwise you'd have effeminate men being accidentally called she and her.
It's simply that being transgender is her story and, apparently, the only part of her personality she seems to have. As Ann said, she wouldn't have been conscious of her any other way if she wasn't continually bringing it up. |

It’s an easy mistake to make.Anyone can tell she is not a woman.Nobody would be fooled by it.You Dont automatically think woman when you see her.

Tbh...her transition has been 40% of the conversation since they have been there...its forced them to think of her as a man...the last thing you want to do is call her a 'he' and the more you have that in your head the more you are likely to do it.
I remember going on holiday with my nephew and his new girlfriend...and a member of the family kept calling the new girlfriend the ex's name and after a while it upset her. I was so conscious of it...I went and did it myself...and I felt awful. |
I really hope this doesn't end up becoming the main storyline for the next couple of weeks
