A big disappointment?

Going in I was excited to see Shane because he's always come across as intelligent and interesting on youtube and drag race and his first week in CBB was great, his conversations with India were especially interesting to me and I was excited to see more...

Fast forward to now and I don't look forward to seeing him on the highlights because he has been reduced to Andrews sidekick and all we see of him is gossiping with the boys and letting them get away with saying awful things and watching him clearly lusting over game playing Andrew.

Such a shame that he's turned out so...basic?

RileyH 20-01-2018 05:29 PM

Honestly agree with everything you said

AnnieK 20-01-2018 05:33 PM

Yeah, I agree. I didn't know of him before this, byt the first few days I loved him. I liked the way he dealt with India's issues and debated with Ann but we don't see that any more, he's just Andrews sidekick now and that's a real shame

He really needs to redeem himself fast

My feelings too. I thought he was going to get involved in debates and issues like he did in the first couple of days. Now he just sits in Andrews shadow like a love sick puppy...real shame.

I think he's brilliant,! A genuine and lovely guy, also a lot of fun. And I like his friendship with Andrew.

montblanc 20-01-2018 05:39 PM

it sucks because everything he stands for on the outside is what i stand for in terms of race, gender, & social issues but i just can't bring myself to support him in the house based on how he's been :/

bots 20-01-2018 05:39 PM

completely gone off him too and he could have won at one point

Kazanne 20-01-2018 05:40 PM

I liked him too although I had never heard or seen him before, but he has been a big let down just hanging round Andrew and being his puppet, I hope he doesn't win now.

Jamie89 20-01-2018 05:41 PM

Yeah I agree as well. He's still a very likeable person and I think he could turn it around again, we've seen he's got a lot of potential as a hm, but I'd be lying if I said I was finding him particularly interesting to watch at the moment.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 20-01-2018 05:42 PM

he isn’t even in my top 30 drag race girls and i’ve only seen 4 seasons of the show so that says a lot

y.winter 20-01-2018 05:42 PM

I wasn't a fan from the beginning (one of the very few [emoji23]). It's not that I thought he was bad, it's that he was overhyped by the RuPaul fans.
He did gain a momentum being the intelligent caring antithesis to India.
Once India was gone and Andrew decided to use him in his James Hill gameplan, he lost his strength.
He's still a main character and a likeable one, but it's just another case of a Tiffany Pollard - overhyped amongst the fans, but finishing in fourth/third place.

Oaker 20-01-2018 05:46 PM

Yeah he had potential but he's been tragic lately. He actually reminds me of Michelle Visage in a way? She was MUCH worse and a complete twat but in the same way she was obsessed with Katie Hopkins and kept trying to be the ~level headed~ person in the house, Shane is obsessed with Andrew and does the same thing.

But can we please not compare him to Tiffany Pollard lol she was literally the most talked about CBB17 housemate in the UK (like.. even more than Steph and Jez during the series) it's really not comparable.

Shane went in and basically has become Andrew's partner in crime.

Hasn't done much except tart a lot and dress up as Courtney.

I've also noticed Shane giving some very nasty looks at Queen Ann.

GiRTh 20-01-2018 05:49 PM

Shane J's relationship with Andrew is still one of the most interesting dynamics in the house but I do agree he needs to spend a bit more time with the other HM's

He kind of does this with Amanda and Ann but the bromance with Andrew is definitely affecting his popularity.

poppsywoppsy 20-01-2018 05:58 PM

Everybody seemed to like Shane J initially but me.

Although his Alta ego is very lovely, it was his calm and know it all stance that put me off him.

Then that horseplay between him and Andrew which nearly became intimate and I don't want to see this as much as I do not want to see similar between Genuwine and Ashley.

Shane Js opinion that his is the only opinion on behaviour in the house is just as bad as Ann's, yet he is the one preaching how it should be whilst Ann has said nothing of the kind and just removed herself from their company.

I would be happy if he left, he hasn't brought anything to the house except his opinions and the shock value of his entrance.

I totally disagree. I find the relationship incredibly disingenuous and therefore do not enjoy it at all.

He's slithers he's so slimy, if he thinks putting a dress on and a wig is entertaining me,he's well wrong

I agree its disingenuous and both probably using each other but I still find it more interesting to watch that anything Dapper or Jonny has done.

EDIT - And much more interesting than Ashley and Ginuwine

Isn't this like the forth thread saying ShaneJ's a disappointment?
But yeah, like I said the past few times, he seems likeable, I don't care who he's friends with, but it'd be nice to see more dimension to him

Jason. 20-01-2018 06:31 PM

He's nothing special.

Aside from his entrance, he's been fairly dull.

MTVN 20-01-2018 06:40 PM

Well not to point out the obvious but since India left there has been no cause for those discussions about gender and identity so he hasn't been talking about them.. he has still had debates with Ann and others like Daniel about various topics and I expect that those conversations still take place we just don't see them very much

JerseyWins 20-01-2018 06:42 PM

Had no thoughts before going in but he seemed great at first so definitely been disappointing after that start.

Yeah for me I want to see more dimensions to him other than just being Shane & being Courtney (which are pretty similar as well obviously since he's still the same person). Idk he seems to just kinda say what he thinks is the right thing to say all the time. I want to see more emotion and different sides to his personality.

He's likable overall but where I disagree is I do think he comes across worse with Andrew so it does matter a bit who he's friends with.
