Lots of much bigger shows do the same thing though "being erica" for instance did this a lot and that got up to 4 million viewers.

I agree the music is unnecessary but I'm sure if they only play it for like 15 seconds or less they aren't required to pay royalties for using the track so in the cut between scenes there should be no excuse?

When Bo Selecta was a thing, they had a music studio who would make their own ripoffs of the themetunes of the things the spoofed, so they didn't have to pay for the rights to use the original music
