I mean, she lost it because a "genderless" snowflake took her to court over a tweet... Whether or not you like Hopkins, it's a ridiculous way to lose so much money

My heart bloody bleeds for her:joker:

She is a supporter of living a lean lifestyle right, so she should be alright? I hear downsizing is really trendy right nao.

She lost it for libel... she straight up made things up about someone to discredit / undermine them, it's not something that should really be tolerated under any circumstances. There's a huge difference between an unpopular / offensive opinion and an outright fabrication... and she got bolder and bolder in what she thought it was "OK to say" until she inevitably crossed that line.

That said; I do agree that it's a ridiculous way to lose so much money. She started to believe that she was untouchable in terms of any real-world consequences for her actions on Twitter, and that makes her an idiot.

As for the campaign... it would be sort of poetic, I suppose, but I suspect the main aim of it is to annoy and rile people up rather than any genuine ambition to help people. At the end of the day it probably doesn't achieve anything much at best, and actively contributes to the downwards spiral at worst. It's not part of a constructive dialogue, just more point scoring, which isn't much better than Hopkins herself.

Also... can it even work? It's not like the house has been seized by the bank, is it? She's selling it herself so she can surely simply refuse any offers until she gets one from someone who she actually wants to live there

Not much.

 That was actually my take-away from their comment. That it's pretty dumb that in all her brilliance, she put so much on the line by a few tweets. Surely she knew libel could be a problem.

I read about the campaign on another site. I'm indifferent on it. It feels like a personal slap at her rather than making any sort of real difference. Surely, if you wanted to make a difference, you wouldn't blow a million on a home when you could use the same $$$ to do a lot more good...

Actually if anything, it may end up helping her if a benefactor steps up to save her from her foreclosure/having to sell? At worst, they're giving her cheap publicity.

Made me LOL...

Like I always say when someone odious get what they deserve... if she's looking for sympathy, she'll find it in the dictionary between sh1t and syphilis.

True but, to be fair, the mainstream media does end up "paying out" on libel cases fairly regularly - usually they just settle out of court early so it never gains much attention. They just consider it part of their running costs, I guess... they make more money FROM the stories than they ever have to pay out because of them. It's a broken system really.

Though as Niamh says; this is probably true of Hopkins too... she's made a career out of this sort of thing. Her mistake has clearly been not factoring in that "cost" - too many years of upping the ante without getting burned made her confident that it wasn't ever going to happen.

Celebrity trolling has also won a US presidential election and propelled many people's careers to the top... if anyone is thinking about making a career change, might want to do it now before the field gets too saturated

I blame the Kardashians

...LOL....maybe she could use those two dictionary words in the house descriptions/details to maybe put off potential buyers so keeping her home for a little longer...’this house is **** and this house could potentially give you syphilis’..so think on if you consider an offer...

It's an idea Ammz... but I think the fact that she's stunk up the place with her vitriol would be enough to put me off.

..but pretty much what TS has said here for me...with the ‘untouchable’, yeah she’s become a bit too cocky there and followed a ‘trend’ of being the controversial in such a negative way to the point of fabrication in some things...and then as always with trends, their tidal and they ebb and they flow and her ebb has started to flow and become a ‘downfall’...which is a great sign I guess of a more positive mindset flowing...

joeysteele 24-01-2018 11:30 AM

No,not a scrap of sympathy from me.

Ammi 24-01-2018 11:56 AM

...anyways, to answer the thread title directly...yes I do feel quite sad ...I just had a little nosey at the home on Rightmove...(she’s got quite reasonable taste in home furnishings I have to say...)...but I noticed on there that it was sold previously in 2010 before this marketing, so she’s presumably been there for 8 years ish...that’s very hard on her children and very sad for them because it may mean losing friendship’s they hold quite dear, having spent much of their lives there...and she has a severely autistic child so terribly hard on that daughter who is so reliant on ‘familiars’ as her security and comfort...all very sad for the whole family...and yes, Katie’s own doing I know...whether she’ll ‘learn’ anything from this in terms of who she’s offended and how she’s hurt others in her life, I honestly don’t know and can only hope that be the case when in experiencing the impact on her children/those she loves...those innocents whose immediate lives are going to feel the loss quite deeply, I fear...
