It's never necessary to refer to anyone like that, and he should have had more respect for an old lady. He crossed a line.

His actions reflect on his family and Ann was letting him know this.

His later deflecting the blame on Ann was disengenuous

Wasn't really him using the C word, it was the venom that it was spat with, and the repeated 'bitch' and such in the storeroom also.

Yes, he was so aggressive and venomous in the way he spoke. He showed himself to be a seriously unpleasant man.
