Has Ann showed these traits in the CBB house?

homophobia
ˌhɒməˈfəʊbɪə,ˌhəʊməˈfəʊbɪə/Submit
noun
dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people.

I don’t think she has.

It amazes me that we still find fresh discussions to be made this far into a series. :amazed:

Ann 'being homophobic' is one of the lies nasty Shane J has been trying to spin.

That's why I can't stand him.

How can Ann be homophobic when her best friend in there is Amanda. A lesbian.

How can Ann not be homophobic when she views homosexuality as so beneath her it does not deserve equality in our society.

That's why I can't stand her.

Yeah i was just thinking that there aren’t enough homophobia threads.

However that other thread came with a loaded statement in the title with the implication that Ann is definitely homophobic.
This is more objective(though i did add my opinion at the bottom).Getting down to the nuts and bolts of whether Ann has met the criteria of the actual definition of the accusation.

Crimson Dynamo 27-01-2018 04:56 PM

no, she has shown no signs at all

much to the annoyance of the eager haters in their ivory towers

You think about things too much. Like Shane J does.

Accept some people have different views to yourself.

montblanc 27-01-2018 04:58 PM

yes she has that’s why i don’t like her. if she hadn’t i wouldn’t have minded her because i would’ve at least been able to look past that

Vicky. 27-01-2018 05:00 PM

IMO she has clearly shown she has homophobic views. I do not think she is an out and out homophobe, as she seems to have no issues with gay people personally...but appears to disagree with the entire notion of being gay (which is silly as its something people cannot change anyway) from things she has said in the house, plus her voting record.

I do not think her being disgusted with Shane and Andrew wrestling was homophobia though, as many seem to think, as she seems to have a general dislike of any people touching and such. Like, she had issues with Ashley and Genuwine also...so its not just gay people.

And you don't think about things enough before you respond.

I accept everyone has views. You need to accept Ann's are homophobic and I'm entitled to point that out.

What facts?

You pop into all of these threads ridiculing opinions and posts without adding anything worthwhile to the discussion yourself.

Can't back up your stance or won't?

I have to disagree I think a lot of how shane J feels (even though I am not him and can't be exact on his opinion so I will just say how I see it) what I have heard her say in regards to LGBT / section 28 even her comments on Meghan Markle she left a whole religion due to women being ordained! feel free to google any of these...so many more disgusting views she has on things.. ann is set in her ways incapable of learning seeing things from others point of view thus not allowing herself to perhaps changing her mind on things instead she is stuck in the dark ages of how things 'used to be' is why shane feels the way he does I do feel she isn't as accepting as people think now if that comes across as homophobic not sure I want to throw that word out there but it sure does mean it's not someone I would ever want as a 'friend'

I find her rude intolerant of others views not open minded at all..

Maybe we should have accepted the way Jade, Danielle, and Jo treated Shilpa in CBB5. After all they also had different views...

...or maybe not because some views are not acceptable and should be challenged.

This is Celebrity Big Brother, of course these housemates are going to be judged by the things they've done OUTSIDE the house. Because that is why they are in there in the first place.

From what I remember Jeremy Jackson said Jade and family were 'white trash' if I remember rightly! was that acceptable? no.. but was there outrage no..

That was a dreadful CBB I do to this day miss Jade despite all that happened nobody deserved what happened :( RIP

Well if the only thing Jade has said was a flippant inappropriate "poppadom" comment in the heat of the moment there wouldn't have been outrage either.

However, it came within a relentless 3 weeks of bullying, intimidation and racism.

Actually Jermaine did get criticized for that. But it was totally overshadowed because of the Jade/Shilpa controversy. There was no outrage because CBB at that point was far less censored and it was right in the middle of Shilpa being bullied.

Marsh. 27-01-2018 05:21 PM

Not to mention he was kind of right. Jade and her family were trash.

I have to be honest I saw people not getting along I saw a lot being lost in translation and I saw lots of people from different backgrounds some whom had spoilt lives servants meeting people whom did not live their lives that way .. it was a car crash and finally the poo hit the fan

sorry not a discussion I really want to get into (no offence) but ty :) my opinions on that whole series will not match most people's

LOL very wise to leave out the 'white' there lol or it would have been a racial slur which was what was said ;)

I said he was kind of right. Trash, white trash. They were.

I draw the line at it being "racist". You need to brush up on your history love. ;)

...I’ve always found her very interesting in the house, despite her political views and how she hasn’t felt homosexuals are entitled to equal rights etc...but the last few days especially I just can’t get on board with her at all because yes, she has displayed what would be ‘homophobia’...I won’t look at your dictionary definitions, NM.....when she said that ShaneJ was ‘disgusting’ for saying he and Andrew were in love or something, that maybe was open to some interpretation of whether she wasn’t being serious..he was teasing her so maybe she was teasing back...?...but when her reasons for nomination were ‘for obscene dramatic behaviour’, which I think is what she said...then that nomination was serious with no doubt, so for me nothing could be interpreted any other which way...in your dictionary there, NM...you’ll see some of the definitions for ‘obscene’ are depraved, amoral, degenerate, salacious and filthy......those definitions are for the word she used to describe two guys having a bit of rough and tumble play fighting and fully clothed..without anything sexual involved at all..(..and for sure Ann knows her words and knew exactly which word described her thoughts, which she verbalised..)..I can’t really see how that can not be anything other than an aversion to their fun fight because I would say the hugs etc that she and Amanda and Jess etc have shared while in the house are a more intimate display than play fighting is...hugs are quite an intimate thing but she has no objection to those...

...I’m not really on board with ‘she’s best friends with Amanda’ either because ...(..and we can only look at these things by what we see in highlights...)...I’ve never seen where she has shown any interest in Amanda in terms of her partner or talk to her about her coming out with her sexuality much later in life...actually I’ve never seen her ask anything of Wayne either in terms of his sexuality as he was born in a time he would have been greatly affected with society views...they have both spoke about some things, I know...but I haven’t seen Ann actually ask or show any interest or be any active participant in those chats...and surely you would do that of a ‘best friend’...

Yeah,
This is why I believe she hasn’t been homophobic.
If Ash and Gen had been rolling around like that or even a platonic pair like say Johnny and Jess then i think that Ann would have been exactly the same. She just doesn’t want to see that.
