Blurryface's Top Songs of 2018 (January Edition - IDGAF WINS)

http://i.imgur.com/JOXv7YQ.jpg

Throughout 2018 I am going to be forming Top 10's of my favourite songs of that month. The Number 1 song of each month will advance to The Grand Finale towards the end of December whereby my Top 12 songs of the Year will be ranked from worst to best. To add some incentive for TiBB, the songs that I place #2 and #3 each month will go into a poll and TiBB will choose one 'Wildcard Song' to join my rankings.

The songs I include don't have to have been released that month, but I'm choosing them on the basis that I've heard them at least once this month and that they're still in the Top 40/100 of the Official Charts.

And now January has been and gone, what better time than now to rank them!

January's Top 10
#10 - Havana (Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug)
#9 - Sick Boy (The Chainsmokers)
#8 - I Miss You (Clean Bandit ft. Julia Michaels)
#7 - Strangers (Sigrid)
#6 - Naked (James Arthur)
#5 - For You (Rita Ora and Liam Payne)
#4 - Wolves (Selena Gomez and Marshmello)

#3 - Anywhere (Rita Ora)
#2 - Never Be The Same (Camila Cabello)
#1 - IDGAF (Dua Lipa)

#10 - Havana
Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug
Released 17.08.17

This song has been out for so long now but I cant seem to get enough of it! I debated including it here as it been out since August, however I'm always hearing it on the radio, it's still at a solid 30 in the Official Charts and I do love it, but because it's so old I did have to put it at #10. This may not be the last you see of Camila this month though!

oh I thought you meant they had to be released in 2018

Matthew. 04-02-2018 11:32 AM

great song, i’m not normally a big “music person” but this is one of 2017’s better songs i think

#9 - Sick Boy
The Chainsmokers
Released 1.2.18

Now admittedly I hated this song at first because of the whole 'scandal' about them ripping off the whole twenty one pilots act but after listening to it more I've grown to enjoy it. It's not good enough to get any higher than #9 this month but it may climb next month if it's still around.

#8 - I Miss You
Clean Bandit ft. Julia Michaels
Released 9.11.17

This song also grew on me at first. When I first heard I really didn't think it lived up to the expectations if its predecessors Symphony, Tears etc but now I've heard it so many times ifpt just feels like another classic Clean Bandit song that I'm gonna enjoy for a while!

#7 - Strangers
Sigrid
Released 18.1.18

Strangers was a perfect follow up to Don't Kill My Vibe for Sigrid, probably even better. I love hearing it on the radio, the only issue is that is constantly in my head and I find it hard to get out so #7 will have to do for our Sigrid.

Which song has missed out on the Top 5?

Morgan. 04-02-2018 11:47 AM

#6 - Naked
James Arthur
Released 7.12.17

This, in my opinion, is probably the best James Arthur song full stop. Say You Won't Let Go was good (and when I saw him and Camila duet it in the summer it was beautiful, the atmosphere was amazing) but this was great. I had to put it lower because I haven't heard it as much as I'd like to have done.

havana is the only good one

#5 - For You
Rita Ora and Liam Payne
Released18.1.18

Like I've said for many, this song grew on me. The 50 Shades Sountracks are always incredible, but the first time I heard this I wasn't too sure. Then I listened to it again out of context, excluding the 50 shades element and now I appreciate it as a song. Rita and Liam's voices fit nicely together and it's a good song.

#4 - Wolves
Selena Gomez and Marshmello
Released 9.11.17

Originally this song was at #10 for me, until I took a second listen of them to double check I was happy and realised I actually really liked the song. The reason I had to cut it before the Wildcard Category Cut-Off though was for that very reason, it is a bit forgettable and until I listen I forget how it goes. But when I do listen I love it, and it's why I put it this high.

RileyH 04-02-2018 12:15 PM

these 2 <33

Morgan. 04-02-2018 12:16 PM

Now it's time to reveal #3 and #2, both of which could still be my Top Song of 2018 at the end of the year as TiBB will vote one of the 24 runners up into the Final Ranking of all #1's.

Morgan. 04-02-2018 12:19 PM

#3 - Anywhere
Rita Ora
Released 2.11.17

This is probably one of Rita's best songs and I know how universally loved it is by fans and casuals alike. It was amazing Live, I just love it! It just want good enough to take my January #1, but willl you give it a chance come December?

Morgan. 04-02-2018 12:23 PM

#2 - Never Be The Same
Camila Cabello
Released 21.12.17

Camila comes out with amazing song after amazing song, and this one definitely deserved to be on the album twice (but if it took a spot from Crying in the Club I WONT be happy). At the moment, however, it isn't quite good enough to be on the #1 spot so I'm gonna give TiBB that all important chance to vote it in.

So who is my winner?

#1 - IDGAF
Dua Lipa
Released 11.1.18

I LOVEEE this song, and there was no competition for it to take the crown as it was my favourite song from the album and I love it on the radio!

RileyH 04-02-2018 12:33 PM
