Robert Thompson and Jon Venables were only 10-years-old when they became the country’s youngest murderers in 250 years.
In February 1993, Little James was led away by the depraved duo while his mother was in a butcher’s shop at the busy shopping centre.

A picture taken from CCTV footage shows the tot being taken by the hand in what would become one of the defining images of the shocking case.
The killers walked James for two and half miles and were spotted by 38 people – some of whom challenged the pair.
Venables and Thompson told passers-by that the distressed toddler was their younger brother or that he was lost and they were taking him to a local police station.
The pair took James to a railway line and tortured, beat and sexually assaulted him.

They poured modelling paint into his eyes, stoned him and clubbed him with bricks, before leaving him on the railway line to be hit by a train.
After killing the tot they left his body near the tracks where it was discovered two days later.
The pair were jailed for the crime but released in 2011.

Justice is almost never done in cases like this, too much emphasis on rehabilitiation. Venables should rot. He keeps being let out and reoffending. Why the **** keep letting him out. He is never going to change.

The other one was possibly rehabilitated. But I don't like taking such a chance...let them out and see if they reoffend to check if they are rehabilitiated? Nah.

Thanks for the heads up Kazanne, I'll bookmark it to watch. I'll never forget the shock of this case at the time and it's still so shocking.

Venables clearly needs to be in custody and that should have been evident the first time he broke parole. What worries me the other one is that they say he is in a relationship. He may be quiet now but what if he has children?

There is another one on Thursday Jaxie, but this one is an interview with his mom and all about James,it will be sad, I cant believe it was 25 years ago this year.

To the extent it could have ethically been done in that case. It's difficult when the perpetrators are children, we need to believe they can be rehabilitated because the idea of a life sentence for a child is monstrous no matter the circumstances.

Jon Venables has since shown that he cannot be rehabilitated and I don't think he should have ever been released when he started re-offending.

Thanks Kaz, I'll be watching. However, not sure I could bear to watch the Thurs one with his Mum being interviewed. Its so brave of her to do it.

Imo Justice has NOT been done. It's disgusting that Venables hasn't been locked up for the rest of his days.

Surely there comes a point where they say well you were a child and we gave you a chance but its clear as an adult you are a danger to children.

I think they should have gone to big boys prison when they reached 18,in those young offenders places they got everything they would not have gotten otherwise,it's like they were rewarded,as for Venables we were told after 8 years if they so much as put a foot wrong they would be taken to prison and what do they do let him out again with another new ID that we are all paying for and boom he does it again,lock the filthy pervert up.

In the case of Venables for sure, he clearly wasn't rehabilitated so something is wrong with their tests on eligibility for release. That to me is the key point in all this. The review board do not seem to be learning from mistakes

Of course they knew what they were doing.why else would they leave him on a train track to be cut in half and cover his face with bricks to make it look like an accident,they knew and they planned it.

Well i think a massive majority of the public were disgusted by how this case was dealt with and if most are like me they still are !

It's really hard Joey,and I seethe everytime they are shown,and although it is against everything I stand for I hope James haunts them for the rest of their miserable lives,I hope they find no peace and the day they cease to exist will be a good day for me and many people I'm sure.

No it wasn’t - poor little lad. His mum has had to be so strong. I hope he knows how much she loves him.

I do admire Denise the way she has campaigned all these years ,she at least deserves Justice but doubt she will get it.

Just on the news Venables sentenced to 3 years for indecent pictures of children and a paedophile manual !!!! wtf is all that about, 3 years is laughable he will be out in half of that.

i honestly don't know what's going on with this. Was he not released on license for the original crime of murder? In which case future offences must violate those license terms? He is being protected in my opinion, and I have no idea why.

Yes Bots, we were PROMISED that If he reoffended he would go straight back to prison and do the time he should have done for killing James,he has been arrested for drugs and fighting previously which should have been enough to send him back to prison before he got arrested the first time for the downloading child images,then he wouldn't have had chance to do it a second time !! it's a farce , I just don't get the mindset of some judges ,he is a danger to kids,ffs lock him up for life.:fist:

Honestly it's a disgrace
With likely another new identity too.

I really understand and support your fury as to this.
Thinking of again too,less than 2 years ahead,his Mother and dad getting more pain thrust at.them again.

Since I doubt,it won't be long before he is in bother again.
