A woman left an abusive note on an ambulance dealing with a 999 call, ordering paramedics to "move their van".

The writer said she did not care if "the whole street collapsed" and the crew had "no right to be parked here".

The hand-written message was left on an ambulance in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, earlier.

Operational manager Mike Duggan said the paramedics also received verbal abuse.

He shared an image of the note on Twitter saying he was "very angry".

Paramedic Katie Tudor tweeted Staffordshire Police asking: "Is there anything that can be done about this? It's becoming a regular occurrence."

This happened in my town a couple of months ago. Looks like they ripped the note up... I'd correct their spelling and post the note back through their letter box. Twat.

I'd put a note through their door telling them that next time they call 999, I'd take as long as possible to find a parking spot that doesn't offend their's or anyone else's sensitivities. It doesn't matter if them or the whole street has collapsed after all...

I read a story a while back about a guy going nuts at paramedics to move their ambulance when they were attending one of his neighbours... they (obviously) didn't move so he tried to squeeze his car past them half through his garden and along the pavement, hit a lamp post and wrecked his car... 5 minutes later the ambulance was gone and the angry fellow was still stuck at his house with a smashed up bumper + bonnet. Karma, I guess.

But yeah apparently this is becoming really common. Worse still; my... err... cousin-in-law(?) is a 999 operator and has had calls from people ranting about ambulances or fire engines blocking their drive, saying "get them to move it or I want the police", etc.

...so not only harrassing emergency services crew, but also wasting the time of 999 operators :umm2:.

What is wrong with people when you consider a parking space more important than someones life, unbelievable.

How selfish can a person get , if i see an ambulance nearby i am concerned about who has been taken ill not get out of my parking space ! Its quite unbelievable .

Being fair, I think a lot of the blame lies with harsh and uncaring employers who control employees through intimidation / fear / threat based tactics... a lot of the time those complaining are panicking about being late for work, and that's because a lot of employers genuinely will not give a **** if an ambulance was blocking your car, they will take disciplinary action against you for being late or not showing up. I've had a written warning for my bus breaking down :shrug:.

So when people feel like they are going to end up delayed and that there are going to be harsh consequences for it, even when unavoidable, they go into panic mode and probably react in ways they might not otherwise.

Does she own the road?... I bet she's one o those 'cyclist don't pay 'road tax' types :/

One day it will be her turn to need an ambulance. No one is getting out of this life alive. Sometimes people need to remember that.

She sounds like a stupid idiot :crazy:, hope she thinks twice if God forbid she ever needs an ambulance . I bet she'll regret her bitch behavior then .

...I sometimes wonder if people do these things just for the ‘publicity’ of them, just hoping it will catch media attention...

A woman has been arrested in connection with an angry note telling an ambulance driver to "move your van".

The handwritten message was left on an ambulance in Tunstall, Staffordshire, while paramedics attended a 999 call.

It read: "If this van is for anyone but Number 14 then you have no right to be parked here.

"I couldn't give a s*** if the whole street collapsed. Now move your van from outside my house."

On Monday morning, John Owen, commander of policing in Stoke-on-Trent North, wrote on Twitter: "We have arrested a 26-year-old female for public order offences.

"Emergency services must be able to carry out their roles without fear of abuse/intimidation of any kind."

Earlier, he had written: "It's important that those working to save lives feel safe in the course of their duty.

"I'm sure that's the view of 99.99% of our population."

Well I suppose if the ambulance was a regular visitor taking an elderly person to the hospital on non emergency visits (because its not always an emergency, they also take people who cant move well in on visits) and they constantly parked in front of your drive blocking you it could get annoying

TBH from the repeated use of "van" and talking about the street collapsing I'm starting to wonder if the woman was maybe a little... confused... and thought it was some sort of trade / maintenance van rather than an ambulance??
