“Reduced order” of Big Brother a possibility from C5

A quote from the Broadcast article that everyone’s been referencing today suggests that running just CBB or a reduced civilian series could be one of the possibilities of C5’s negotiations with Endemol:

Quote:

It has also emerged that one possible outcome is for C5 to commission a reduced order of Big Brother – potentially scaling back the hours to air just the celebrity versions or a shortened run of the civilian series. In 2017, the two versions cumulatively occupied more than 100 of the channel’s key 9pm and 10pm slots.

Either way, it’s looking like the future of BB isn’t all that bright if it stays with C5. Time to give it a rest and let Endemol find a new home for it.

**** me, that doesn’t even suggest that they’re considering losing one of the CBB’s for a second

Greg! 28-02-2018 06:23 PM

Just bloody axe the summer CBB

Greg! 28-02-2018 06:25 PM

I'd rather they axe the whole thing than shorten or axe the civilian series

So Endemol aren’t keeping the package deal anymore? Ugh bet they would extend the CBB’s aswell so they won’t even save THAT much money

And imagine if a civvy is 31 days welp just give it to Netflix

C5 have never cared for the civilian series and they’ve missed so many good opportunities to get higher ratings (which would also improve summer CBB, as that depends on how the civ before it rates.) They just have NO common sense. They clearly tried with BB14, and they got a 1.9m average, which imo would’ve been even higher if they didn’t try to copy GS/TOWIE with the two series before it. We all had high hopes for BB15 and they did seem to put alot of effort in for the first few weeks, however they took the negative aspects of BB14 and focused on that for some reason, I mean the BB14 cast was so diverse compared to BB15, BB14 had nightly live feed, BB14 put effort into its tasks (quarantine <3), but NO - we LOVED the inconsistent nominations rule and the live feed in BB14 was TOO much so yeah take that away!

Ever since then they clearly just can’t be bothered with it, BB17 proved again if they put effort into something (yeah the other house twist wasn’t too good but the actual idea was imo one of the best on C5) they’ll get bigger ratings. I hope when they eventually axe it, another channel picks it up and makes BBUK what it’s supposed to be and *hopefully* gets big ratings, to show C5 the opportunity they lost

I loved the other house and housemate connection twist. It worked. The house and the eye was also nice.

:joker: tbh I just rolled my eyes when I read the OP, this is exactly the kind of **** I've been predicting for years...that they want rid of civilian and would ideally want to run two (or God forbid three) CBB's a year. Very disappointing that Endemol are actually considering this, they should tell Ben Frow to get ****ed and go wank off to some more poverty porn

And as for reducing civilian...what???? How can they reduce it anymore?! It's almost the same length as a CBB FFS :umm2:

The original social experiment. Aka: like the original CBB where 16 civilians live together for a week and then all get evicted on the same night.

Can we start a petition.org to axe Summer CBB...C5 are literally running out of celebrities based from CBB21 alone...

I just don't think that BB suits this modern age of Reality TV, it's all about Showmances and other forms of Drama, everything else that made BB actually BB has gone in this TOWIE age.

I think the best thing for BBUK to do is for Endemol to maybe start up their own online channel for future series of BB so they can put Live Feed up (on a small subscription fee obviously) and make a more authentic version of the show that represents every group of society again like the good old days on Ch4.

BB was always one of my childhood shows that I'll always remember fondly, and I don't want it to die because Ch5 changed it into a scripted Soap Opera.
