would you like to see serious debates axed

the forum would be a nicer place without ha!

Niamh. 18-03-2018 08:48 PM

It shouldn't be axed but I think people should make more of an effort to try and just stick to the topics of threads rather than eachother

Marsh. 18-03-2018 08:49 PM

Yes, and everything inside of it. :hehe:

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 18-03-2018 08:50 PM

literally every thread posted in that subforum is relentlessly depressing i just think the forum would benefit from the cull

Rob! 18-03-2018 08:51 PM

I think it does rather open the floodgates to pointless political arguments, which a lot of the time can create more personal insults than most topics, but at the same time, the topics would just end up being somewhere else and in fairness, if people can't be mature enough to listen to other people's opinions than actually listening to another side of an argument and instead act like mentally challanged children, then at least the SD section is keeping them off the streets.

Babayaro. 18-03-2018 08:51 PM

Yes! :clap1:

Tom4784 18-03-2018 08:51 PM

If it was down to me, I'd get rid. It's pretty much impossible to mod that section and most threads end up down the toilet before long.

Withano 18-03-2018 08:52 PM

If people stuck to the topic, it would be excellent. But some dont, and their offtopic posts are left for people to respond to making the whole thing pointless.

Wow you must have missed all of mine.

Morgan. 18-03-2018 08:53 PM

Yeah I don't think it's good for the forum at all.

Alf 18-03-2018 08:54 PM

No! I'm for the freedom of speech.

it's scary coz I have to agree with Alf

it should be left alone
people who can't take the heat shouldn't visit it, that's all, there's plenty of other subforums
re. personal attacks, lack of SD wouldn't make a difference, BB threads can get very personal and vicious too, but you'd not even think of getting rid of those

Actually the BB section is the first section I'd cull. :skull:

Cherie 18-03-2018 09:26 PM

No and why would SD bother you when you allegedly have it on ignore...just call me Morse not to be confused with Morsh

Twosugars 18-03-2018 09:33 PM

and since we on the topic of subforums, Drag Race should get its own

Smithy 18-03-2018 09:33 PM

Replace her with a Ru Paul’s Drag Race subforum instead! Let’s argue about lip syncs not brexit!

hijaxers 18-03-2018 09:36 PM

I'd say no, i always read them but after seeing how nasty it tends to become i just read and stay out of it because it like some members enjoy being just plain argumentative. This is not pointed at anyone in particular.

Shaun 18-03-2018 09:36 PM

I suppose the title alone suggests it should be spent solely for debating so it's inevitably going to end up looking heated and exhausting, so I would just condense it into the General Chat bit just to save the hassle (if there's a change at all, which I'm not fussy about)

Maru 18-03-2018 09:37 PM

No, I think some just need to take a tech break more often if a forum has that much influence over their day to day emotional well-being... there is more to the life than what happens behind a computer screen. Balance is all that is needed.

JerseyWins 18-03-2018 09:38 PM

Seems like that's the section to go to when you want to throw down https://media.giphy.com/media/SE9GuwDRbKE48/giphy.gif

Marsh. 18-03-2018 09:38 PM

Yeah, maybe if the word "debates" was taken out discussions would start off less fraught?

Maybe "Serious News" or "News Chat" or "Good Morning TiBB with Dezzy and Rob".

It's what we deserve

I just don't understand how passionate people get about it, like as if posting an opinion on a BB forum that about 20 people will see is so meaningful :skull:

smudgie 18-03-2018 10:16 PM

No.
People just need to chill a bit, debate instead of deBAIT.
We all have our own opinions, they don’t all have to be the same, agree to disagree, we are all adults.

No the forum need to get bigger not smaller if an member don't like a section then there don't have to view it

Jodie. 18-03-2018 10:33 PM

I have SUCH a good idea right

If you start an argument or whatever or go off topic then u should be banned from that subforum for abit lol instead of just getting an infraction etc x

That already happens hun.

Scarlett. 18-03-2018 10:57 PM

I turned Serious Debates off, I'm now enjoying the forums much much more.

Twosugars 18-03-2018 10:59 PM

political discussions tend to get heated, see tv or parliament
like it or not, people need to have somewhere to discuss such topics
especially now when we all can live in a bubble and surround ourselves only with people we agree with
it's uncomfortable but it's good to be exposed to opposing views and practice debating such views effectively, it forces us to back up views with evidence

Ant. 18-03-2018 11:01 PM

Hm yes but bring it back in ten years when I know what politics is and I'm banned from Twitter for slating the prime minister too much

five minutes slot for each topic and we move on to makeup tips and commercials

Lostie! 18-03-2018 11:03 PM

Not really

caprimint 19-03-2018 05:43 AM

No it causes drama

Amy Jade 19-03-2018 06:06 AM

I think it's fine. I go on it now and then and don't recall ever arguing, I think even if someone is passionate we should be able to keep it civil?
