CBB22 before BB19?

Been thinking a lot about when this summer's BB is gonna start. It seems there's a whole bunch of theories and ideas about when it might launch. Lots of people still think it's going to get a June start. With callbacks only just beginning though, and with the whole audition process starting much later, could this mean we'll be seeing it a little later in the summer?

I think a later start could be a good idea. Obviously the contract ends on the 30th of September, which means that if there is indeed one more celeb series to come it could well be before the civilian series? Might act as good promo (though I doubt it will have *much* of an impact), but if this is the last series with channel 5 it's more fitting to bow out with a civilian series, if we're not getting a UBB-style outing that is.

Whichever way you cut it, it seems like there's almost certainly going to be some kind of overlap with Love Island this year. Would it make more sense for 5 to put on CBB while LI airs, considering the former is obviously celeb based and, while LI is extremely popular, it only focuses on civilians so to speak? The way I'm imagining it at the moment is CBB starting early July, ending late July, and then CBB19 launching early August, coming to an end mid-September.

Of course, this is just speculation on my part! Only thing that stands out to me is that callbacks are only just beginning. It seems an incredibly quick turn around would be needed to get it cast and prepped for a June launch. What do you guys think?

I don't think it makes a difference if CBB came first because Love Island will thrash it in the ratings department.

If they were smart they would air BB in late july to September and CBB from September to October.

The planning contract ends at the end of September though doesn't it? I feel like trying to find a place to pop CBB in is actually more hassle than it's worth.

Like you said, it's not going to beat Love Island in the ratings, but my thinking is CBB offers a celeb-based reality show, while Love Island is a standard civilian reality show. That's not to say it will get insane ratings, but 5 have a better chance with offering something celeb-based at the same time as Love Island as opposed to airing another standard civilian reality show concurrently.

I don't understand the rationale in it at all tbh. Why would they want that? As above poster said, I really doubt they care that much about protecting civilian BB's ratings against LI.

BB19 wouldn't work that late. If they're targeting college kids, then those folk would be in school more than likely...
