She only wants to talk about Windrush.

Oliver_W 30-04-2018 12:49 PM

The punchline of politics makes a fool of herself? Imagine my shock.

Denver 30-04-2018 01:07 PM

Every gaffe she makes is like she is auditioning for CBB or IAC

user104658 30-04-2018 01:19 PM

She is pretty useless. His question is crap, far too black and white, but it's not like it's hard to get around that?

The "fair" policy on illegal immigrants and whether or not they should "be kicked out" is "it depends on their circumstances". If they are purely economic migrants here illegally then yes they should be deported, if they have more complicated circumstances that mean being deported would directly endanger them then their situation should be examined. Simple stuff, surely. Posing a question on binary terms as he is, and trying to force your opponent to "pick one", is a tactic designed to misrespresent the views of the person being asked. But she doesn't have to answer his question on his terms... it sort of seems like she's dancing around because she thinks she HAS to respond to the binary question, when all she actually has to do is offer a third answer.

Oliver_W 30-04-2018 01:28 PM

To be fair, I think the direction she's being given is nearly as much to blame as her own inadequacies. I caught up with PMQs over the weekend and Corbyn seemed to be equating the Windrush generation with illegal immigrants, or rather, treating all immigrants the same way. So maybe Labour doesn't currently have an official position on actual illegal immigration.

bots 30-04-2018 01:39 PM

the problem is that everyone is scared ****less that they say something that could be interpreted in a way that badly represents them, so the default is to say meaningless drivel. Very few actually have the courage these days to state a position and defend it.

More like she is scorned by anyone who doesn’t suffer fools - especially in politics. She should, more importantly Labour should, get rid of someone clearly not up to the job. But then Corbyn’s Labour do seem to have a penchant for life’s oddballs and inadequates.

He is RIGHT to care who might come to power in this country, the same way as a lot of people in this country seem to violently care who has democratically come to power in the USA.

Apart from which, ANY decent, person of any political persuasion SHOULD be concerned that such a talentless, STUPID, treasonous and RACIST person has not only been TOLERATED for 30 years by the British people but also ALLOWED to rise within the Labour Party to such a position of prominence.

There are far more LOGICAL and JUSTIFIED reasons for being concerned about ABBOTT and her mentor and ex-shagging partner Comrade Corbyn than there are to be concerned about Trump - in my opinion.

I watched this several times and cannot fault Piers Morgan.

He repeatedly asked properly framed questions which DEMANDED proper answers, but the abhorrent and duplicitous imbecilic Abbott spewed out - or rather SPLUTTERED out - an obviously prepared deflective statement which was obviously well rehearsed but which the stupid woman could not even recall correctly without struggling.

Just like gigolo super-stud Jeremy - her mentor - Abbott NEVER answers any question when doing so would expose her duplicity, stupidity, and lack of ANY real suitability for any position in politics, let alone in any potential Government.

To better understand her, you should invest a few pence in purchasing a copy of; Comrade Corbyn's: 'Plain Speaking in Politics' .

It runs to about 2 pages - the Title Page and a Foreward - and is filed under FICTION in the lending library. :hehe:

Welcome back Kaz. The only way Abbott will go is in a straight-jacket.

Oliver_W 01-05-2018 06:38 AM

She's only the Shadow Home Sec. She has little if any influence, so let her keep making a fool of herself for our amusement. If Corbyn wants his frontbench to be taken seriously you'd think he'd know what to do, but in the meantime...

jaxie 01-05-2018 07:14 AM

I can't take someone seriously who promotes state education for all and sends her child to private school. She's a patronising hypocrite.

 No shet, Sherlock.

Seriously, I am increasingly disappointed and angry with this Government, but Abbott and Costello - sorry, Corbyn - are THE reasons why I can never ever even consider voting for Labour again.

They did demand proper answers but he offers a choice of two answers (which is not a good interview technique; it's a "gotcha" journalist tactic); specifically he says:

"[I am asking] what Labour's policy on illegal immigrants is"...

(A fair question, and one that she SHOULD be able to answer coherently, but he then follows up with - )

"Do you think they should be removed from the country OR should they be allowed to stay here?"

...he's suggesting that she has to pick ONE of these options to apply to ALL illegal immigrants. Which is a gross oversimplification, and I wouldn't indulge him by being pushed into "picking" one of his answer either. An interview isn't a multiple choice questionaire... and it's completely valid to point out that the issue is far more nuanced than that. In some cases they should be removed, in others they should have their circumstances examined further .

However, it wouldn't be difficult to say that, and her inability to stay unflustered is concerning. I mean... it's a breakfast telly show and she can't even keep her cool , how on earth has she survived this long in real politics?
