You should Ask The Baby For Permission To Change Their Nappy

Never colour your hair like this or you could be mistaken for one of them.

It sounds odd but I can kind of get the reasoning. Teaching kids from a young age is vital around things like this and just like learning to speak you have to start when they don't understand, then they learn

Marsh. 10-05-2018 11:40 AM

Tbf, when you listen to her explanation it's not nearly as odd as it sounds.

It's just about communication from an early age.

Yep totally agree, the headline makes it sound totally ridiculous when what she's saying is actually very logical

Don't worry! a baby will let you know that they need changing by either crying or smelling like a stink bomb. That line of communication has stood the test of time.

I think you're missing the point she's trying to make Alf.

So what is her point?

It's about starting to teach kids from a very young age about communication and consent, they don't really understand but then they don't understand you speaking to them either when they're babies so one could say that it's also stupid to speak to them because they don't understand you ...................but that's how they learn

Why does this self proclaimed expert know better than a parent what's best for their child?

I think she's wasting her time with fantasy, but is getting paid for it, so why would she stop?

Beso 10-05-2018 12:13 PM

The little ****s should be changing them themselves.

Not really the point being made though, is it?

I don't think she has a point at all. She's just making up work for herself to earn a living.

Tom4784 10-05-2018 12:23 PM

Sensationalist headline that attempts to dash what is a very valid point. If you don't understand what she's saying, I'd advise reading the article, she explains her views quite clearly.

You don't need to advise me on anything. I read the article before I posted it.

Who is saying she knows better than a parent for what's best for them though? It's a suggestion on how to teach them something from a young age, as a parent myself I think it makes sense

Yes no point at all to teaching communication skills to children.

user104658 10-05-2018 01:03 PM

What do you do when they're 18m old and talking and have shat themselves and you say "I'm gonna change you is that OK?" and they say "NO!" and run away.

...

Most people already do teach communication skills to children. What is the evidence that her way is better?

Who suggested anyway was better?

This is a suggestion about raising children with a good concept of consent, a specific type of communication. Skills is a plural word, there's more than one. So, your ire is a bit misplaced.

was just going to post this, I'm all for teaching kids about keeping themselves safe but asking a babies permission to change a nappy is stretching it ...pun intended.

What do you do if they totally ignored you, do you take that as a yes or no?
