A day after Fox cancelled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the praised cop comedy series has been picked up by NBC for a 13-episode sixth season.

NBC, whose sister studio Universal TV produces the Andy Samberg-starring series, was one of the potential homes for the comedy after its cancellation. NBC also was among the broadcast networks that bid for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine pitch from creators Mike Schur and Dan Goor when it hit the marketplace in 2012 before the project landed at Fox in a very competitive situation.

“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

Oh thank goodness. I was a little heartbroken when I heard it was canceled. One of the very few sitcoms doing it right these days.

Glad that someone else has it now, love B99

So glad NBC swooped in, the Nine Nine is my favourite sitcom since Scrubs (I actually like B99 better)

[Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The end of a 'powerful', 'comforting'
and 'relatable' show
It was bad news for Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans
as it was announced the US comedy is coming to an end.

After 153 episodes, the upcoming season eight will be
the last for the show, which first aired in 2013.
"I feel very lucky to have worked with this amazing
cast and crew for eight seasons,"
series co-creator Dan Goor said in a statement.
"But most of all, I feel lucky that we have had
the best fans in the world."
The sitcom, which follows a team of detectives
in the New York City Police Department,
was initially cancelled by TV channel Fox in 2018]

If there has to be a last episode, it should be s09e09!

153 episodes?

"Only fools and horses" was only about 60 odd episodes and people said that ran for too long.

ehh. UK sitcoms and USA sitcoms are different beasts. UK ones usually have a main writer or two, and have 6-8 episodes per season, while USA ones have a writers room full of people, and usually 12-20ish episodes.

8 seasons is decent enough :D

Yeah it's good and everything, but the final episode being 9/9 would be cool :D

Last of the summer wine had 295 episodes and that was written by one man. So there's your logic gone for a Burton.

I said usually, not always :fist:

It's always best for a Show to go out while it's still decent.

Ask GOT.

GoT is the opposite though - it ended badly because they RUSHED the ending, rather than badly because of dragging it out. The show needed to run until Season 10 to be wrapped up properly.

With Brooklyn 99 I'm afraid I stopped after about season 2 ... ... ... I just didn't find it very funny :worry:
