TiBB's Top Song of 2007 [A deciding poll!]

I was just having a nosy at a song from 2007 and decided to search it on the forum when I stumbled across this thread:

http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...ad.php?t=84335

Now, as you know, it is TiBB tradition that I start this game off at the end of the year, and up until now I was under the assumption that Rory started the game in 2008 - with Britney Spears' "Womanizer" winning. But it turns out there was a title that was never handed out

If you click the thread, you'll notice eight songs made it to the final round before the thread died a lonely death. So the solution is simple: put those eight songs to a final poll, nine years after it was left for dead (not sure why this game took place two years after 2007 but I guess Rory had a glut for games in 2009).

The winning song will be added to the final list of songs when I get 2018's edition rolling at the end of the charting year :spin2:

Those eight songs are...

And before you ask, no I am not starting that entire game from scratch. They may have made questionable choices back then (see: "Boogie 2nite" going out in the second round), but we will have to trust their judgment (just as we did when they voted Womanizer as the best song of 2008 :unsure). And yes it is vital that we make this decision now. Just how many more TiBB mysteries are out there?

Of course, in terms of legacy, Umbrella is the clear winner... but this is really difficult and I love all of the other 7 songs more than Umbrella :worry:

After careful consideration I have come to the conclusive ranking:

1) Nelly Furtado - still a song I would listen to today, pretty timeless, a bloody lovely song and she is SLEPT. ON. :clap1: the real queen of Canada.
2) The Killers - Would've 100% voted for this at the time (and did!) because it was, and is, one of my favourite songs of theirs. V underrated.
3) Girls Aloud - AN. ANTHEM. Oh god I already think I've made a mistake not voting for this.
4) JoJo - a BELTER of a ballad, lots of memories of trying to sing it with friends, peak 2007 MSN melodrama
5) Gossip - ugh I don't want to imagine a world where this didn't soundtrack every single advert on Channel 4 for six months. A rock classic. When will Led Zeppelin?
6) Timbaland - an absolute bop and he was pretty much the leading man behind music in 2007.
7) Calvin Harris - definitely a bop, but probably the most dated of the bunch and also something he probably wouldn't get away with releasing today (HE SAID MIXED RACE????? HE WHAT???)
8) Rihanna - like I said: obviously a classic. But it was culturally dead to me until Tom Holland did that to it.

The song selection is honestly really crap...

Though I vote for “Say It Right”.

Toss up between Umbrella, Too Little Too Late, Say It Right & The Way I Are

But I'm actually gonna go with Timbaland.

The Way I Are = A BOP

Probably wouldve voted Rihanna back in 2007, because that was an all-year banger. Would rather listen to The Gossip now, I still love hee voice.

The one that sparked the biggest debate on UK television

(Charley vs Chanelle over Rihanna's age)
