What is your idea of Back to Basics?

When you want BB to go back to basics what do you mean/want?

Jake. 31-05-2018 06:02 PM

Normal nominations and calmed down editing

Denver 31-05-2018 06:04 PM

Bring back the cars/bokes/vans/tractors for entrances
No OTT editing
Closed Stair
Make evictions feel like an event
Diverse cast
Real punishments

pontyboi 31-05-2018 06:24 PM

A bb who doesn't have full blown conversations with housemates because the chatty bb is cringe and not at all funny. Bring back the monotone voices of yesteryear especially for the count downs on eviction nights.

Marcus needs to be stripped of ad libbing his scripts as a comedian he is not! Producers have given him waaaay to much of a leading role.

No more tacky editing and get rid of the constant drone shots accompanied by music it just takes up to much time of what little highlights we have.

Obviously bring back live feed.

Normal nominations!

An actual house routine where viewers know what's happening on certain days and not left to feel like producers are just winging it....which they are and don't even try to look like they have control of what's going on with the show, they don't even know the end date of each series in recent years which gives the impression they don't have faith in commiting to a certain run of x ammount of days, if they don't have faith how will the viewers? Basically bb needs to be in control..like Janet Jackson.

A varied cast is key no more people with agents and previous reality TV experience.

No ****ing about with the prize fund.

No more tacky tasks like the supposed "secret missions" where housemates are told they are to perform a secret task for sweet treats *cringes* then predictably the rest of the house are in on the act...queue the task results of bb announcing " today you where set a secret mission....but what you didn't know is that this wasn't the real task" *all housemates giggle and scream like a bunch of knobs*. It's pure lazy production as are the task involving what viewers think of housemates.

No contact with the outside world....that's the most basic rule of bb which channel 5 have repeatedly abused.

Finally go back to 2002 when bb actually had a clue of how to run the show.

Why do I watch this programme again? Lol there's so many negatives that outway the positives.

An Amy Winehouse album

Wow i can't read

For me it's just about going back to the original format with normal nominations and evictions with a public vote the vast majority of the time (save for maybe a couple of twists) and regular shopping tasks.

I basically just want to feel like they're not making it up as they go along and there's some consistency in the show.

A nomination rule exists, and its not just the producers going “oh i like the two with the most votes. Hm. Everybody with one nomination is up this week”.

Gstar 31-05-2018 08:48 PM

Channel 4 (excl BB11)

DouglasS 31-05-2018 08:57 PM

- Normal nominations with no sudden twists / or at least not a twist every week manipulating the nominations, once every 6 weeks is okay.

- No crowd reactions during evictions

- No outside knowledge / tasks involving outside infomation / who is liked by the public

Cal. 31-05-2018 09:15 PM

-Normal nominations (two or three twists for a 10 week series would keep it exciting)
-A core set of housemates that are not overlooked by OTT twists or a revolving door of newbies
- Weekly tasks that make sense and can be clearly judged on passing/failing (basically no ‘if Big Brother deems you successful....’ ****
- LIVE evictions

I’m not too fussed about the length of the series. A 50 day series works fine and can actually stop the staleness at the end which has put a dampener on some otherwise amazing series’.

T* 31-05-2018 09:33 PM

I scrolled straight to the bottom and I’m replying without seeing everyone else’s just bc I think it’d be interesting to compare without any influence

-normal nominations
-no outside contact
- more isolation feel (though the stairs weren’t closed off until like... BB5(?) it was nice bc it was like a purgatory between the BB house and the outside world)
- no stupid eviction twists
- less luxuries
- natural flow (no overly meddling producers)
- good mix of people that likely won’t know each other prior to the show
- live feed
- not tacky

Eddie. 01-06-2018 04:21 AM

Normal nominations (almost) every week.
Shopping tasks which last more than a day.
Less alcohol.
Closed-off stairs.
Eviction announcement in the studio (like BB8-BB10)
No Z-listers
NORMAL people with diverse backgrounds (BB18 actually did really good with the latter part.)
Chickens.
No outside contact
Live feed
Free eviction votes
BB1-BB10 style editing.

I'm easy to please, a lot of the things people ask for it IMO too much to be done. People need to think that this is C5 so they would want young viewers but also hardcore older viewers interested.

So i would only say, this is what I want:

- 24/7 feed so we can get to know the HMs properly.

- No talent agencies for normal BB. If someone is young and good looking, go for it... but no one with connections. So I'd say AGE wise, BB17 is the type of series which was perfect. A real mix.

- Punishments being more severe... maybe introduce a 3 step warning system... first is turning off of water, appliances and food taken away, 2nd step is those involved being banned from nomination and 3rd step is that person being up for eviction... anything further, EJECTED. This should be stuck to, no matter what the rule break is unless it is something severe (violence, racism etc...) in that case, immediate ejection.

- Nominations being in the DR. If they want to do F2F noms, then fine, but once a series and that's it.

- No outside contact

So not asking for much, #1 is surely easy, they can do it online, #2 is easy as they did it for BB17.

It's #3 #4 and 5 that will take more time.

What? lmao

Greg! 01-06-2018 03:16 PM

Everyone's basically already said this but:

Two or more with most noms are up, minimalistic editing with no overlaid music, closed off stairs, no backdoor evictions, housemates that are interesting and diverse and not desperate Z-listers, weekly shopping tasks, weekly chalkboard for food budget, no outside contact, make twists rare instead of having one every single bloody week

Greg! 01-06-2018 03:18 PM

Omfg and make them purchase cigarettes off the shopping list to cause natural drama and tension instead of just providing them with unlimited fags if they ask in the diary room.

Greg! 01-06-2018 03:20 PM

Also this isn't really back to basics, but this series they should take a leaf out of Love Island's book and only allow a housemate to smoke in a small corner of the garden, by themselves and away from everyone else. I'm sick of recent series when 3/4 of the conversations take place in the fookin smoking area
