Hereditary - 2018 Horror movie

Anybody looking forward to this?

It's had acclaim from almost everyone in early reviews, all have said it's absolutely terrifying and hailed it as a MASTERPIECE.

It's got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and hasn't even been released yet, also "Universal Acclaim" on Metacritic.

Hope it lives up to the hype unlike "Get Out" which I thought was overrated...

Trailers:

First I've seen the trailer, looks good

Amy Jade 01-06-2018 06:08 PM

Looks good and Toni is amazing but the last few hyped up horrors I have seen have been dire so I am a little wary now

I agree.

Like "Get Out", I had so much hope and thought it was rubbish.

Was just about to post a thread on this film after reading this...

Hereditary: The 'scariest film for years' is coming
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-44328998

It sounds brilliant, trying not to read too much about it though. And the fact that Muriel Toni is starring

Just reading the AV Club review and I'm massively intrigued. Only go to the cinema once in a blue moon but I think this calls for it.

I liked 'Get Out' but yeah it was overhyped same as 'It Comes At Night' which was being called the scariest film of the year but it's genuinely terrible.

Jamie89 03-06-2018 08:05 PM

The 'overhyped' thing is one of the reasons I'm trying not to read too much about it, not just because of spoilers. Like, I've been sufficiently intrigued now but I don't want my expectations to be unrealistically high

I love horrors so I’ll definitely watch this

Isn’t the “it” that comes at night
Spoiler:

just paranoia or something :joker: i remember reading the comments on piratebay and people were pissed off because they were expecting a monster of some sort and it was just people being paranoid or something :skull:

LaLaLand 04-06-2018 01:00 AM

I accidentally almost read the whole bloody story (well I started reading, realised what it was, clicked off, went back and just skimmed... Only me to blame :laugh2:)

Anyway, any idea of what you think the film is about/what you think will happen IS WRONG! There's no way from the trailers that you can prepare for the story of this film, seriously. It's horrific.

JerseyWins 04-06-2018 05:18 AM

Ok I just watched both trailers and this legitimately looks pretty creepy/scary. :clap1:

Spoiler:

yep. They elude to something terrifying in the woods and when the pet dog dies hes all torn up but then the people in the house go mental and kill the people they were helping including a young mum (the only likeable person) who is trying to save her son

You never find out if there is anything outside, who killed the dog or anything

Amy Jade 14-06-2018 10:58 PM

Awful film not worth seeing in my opinion.

LaLaLand 14-06-2018 11:11 PM

I thought it was excellent, proper slow burner and genuinely unsettling. Really clever too, you had to literally not miss a single thing to understand the ending.

Black Dagger 14-06-2018 11:17 PM

Watched it tonight with my boyfriend because he loves a horror. Honestly ****e.

****ing teenage boy did my head in with his naff acting.

Nicky91 15-06-2018 08:26 AM

my mom is looking forward to this movie

Jamie89 20-06-2018 07:05 AM

Watched this last night and it was such a disappointment. Not just because of all the hype but it just wasn't that good, I don't get why it's getting so much praise. I actually bought into the whole "best horror since the exorcist" rubbish and all the 5 star reviews. It's not completely terrible, there's some good moments

Spoiler:

and the daughters death I found genuinely shocking and surprising

but overall, yeah just a big disappointment really.

Amy Jade 20-06-2018 08:19 AM

Spoiler:

The only creepy moment was when the son woke up and the mum was in the corner of the room behind him barely visable and then when she jumped out of the darkness in the living room

People were laughing when the mum was floating around too because it just looked shoddy and the son wasn't likeable enough to root for

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 20-06-2018 11:07 PM

SPEAKING of overrated horror remember this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Witch_(2015_film)

Yeah same went I went to see it, there was quite a bit of laughing actually. I think once people started to realise it wasn't actually going to get any better they just weren't taking it seriously. And some of the CGI was pretty awful (like the flies in the attic).

This ^ is actually better than the movie  There were some interesting ideas tbf it was just the execution of it all that was the problem. Muriel deserves better!

Moviefan 24-06-2018 05:31 PM

It's was a decent movie, some good shocks moments here and there.

But I didn't find anything scary or creepy at all

When dose a teenager in high school cry like that (crying like 3 year old)
thag really annoyed me

I have to agree with everything you said. It was watchable but not scary at all, I laughed more then anything. My friend feel asleep and the people behind us said it was **** when it ended so I not the best horror film in years

-Sue- 27-06-2018 03:45 PM

Save your money do NOT watch this film...it is terrible... not good or scarey at all all you will loose is money - time - all feeling in your bum waiting for it to end..
